I'm agnostic.........mostly atheist, but I COMPLETELY believe in evolution. It's rather obvious to me. Over millions of years, genes will fall out of favour/fall IN favour. Little by little, this changes a species. For example, wolves and dogs indeed have a common ancestor. When man began to domesticate wolves because they notices the compatibility of them with human life, they began to naturally choose to breed the more desirable wolves to their own favour. Hence, since then, many species of wolves have arrived because such traits were chosen. Furthermore, if you go back in history, you'll notice that plants such as corn were actually rather small when found wild. But when man cultured corn, they selected the bigger and better ones to pollinate. Thus, today, after many years, we have large corn seen most of the time because it is the highest occuring trait.
Scenario 2: There used to be short-necked giraffs, but they have since become extinct. The long-necked giraff used to be rare because the long neck was caused my a mutant gene. But when food competition with other animals became critical, the short necked giraffs competed with the other animals, and slowly died off. The long necked giraffs could reach more food however, because they had longer necks. And thus, the long neck gene became the "normal" gene eventually because those with the short gene died off.
Scenario 3: People disagree that we "came from apes". I agree with those people, because we didn't! Actually, we have a COMMON ANCESTOR with Chimpanzees, apes, etc. If you look at Chimpanzee DNA, it is EXACTLY the same, with the exception of ONE chromosome. and if you look at that one chromosome, you'll notice that if you were to cut it at a certain point and invert a piece, then it would look EXACTLY like the human chromosome. Tiny mutations happen all the time. Some are life threatening, some are not. Over time, enough mutations can occur to make drastic changes. We did not differ from chimps over night, it took MILLIONS of years for us to differ from them. Humans are still changing today as well. The appendix is not needed in the human body, for example, and now some people are actually born without it!
.....anyhoo, that's my take. My releigion is EVOLUTION which I find rather obvious, but that's just my view!
