The cause itself (excessive CO2 emissions) is a result of excessive fossil fuel burning which is responsible for a host of other pollution and dependency issues. So even if you aren't on the global warming boat, the core issue is the responsible development and use of clean, renewable energy sources. That is critical to our continued use of the planet. You can't keep taking shared resources out (other things exist here besides us )and not putting anything back in, especially when the survival of those other organisms is pretty darn crucial to our own survival.
