Some people at school.

As you know, people love a good bit of controversy, especially when it envolves homosexuality. At my school, i've allways been famed as the 'one who stands out' because i'm quite outspoken and don't follow the cliques and trends: now to cut a long story short, i got wasted at a party one evening and got a little to close to a guy i actually didn't like that much - we slept with each other but didn't have sex. We very nearly did but I somehow become irationally sensible when drunk, so that didn't happen. But yes, we got walked in on and these things tend to grow arms and legs, so before you could blink the news was all over the school that i slept with another guy, and the fact that i wasn't out to anyone made it a Double Shocker. Thankfully my year were a bit mature about it in the fact they all ignore me bar a few sensible people and the one bi girl i'm freindly with. Year 11 however, where all my freinds are - a few of the less mature ones decide to shout out 'BUMSEX' every time i walk past. I personally think it's just fucking pathetic and just ignore it - i'm used to getting rap for my actions and shit, so i'm used to it. It's when fucking retards annoy me about it. Seeing as I have anger management issues and manic depression, this isn't a wise thing to do - as the person who i threw down a flight after they nagged me for a whole week about my bisexuality; 'Oh you fucking queer' and 'You actually got it up the arse' were two of his favourite calls whenever I walked by him and his smartass mates. Basically I'm ranting, but i'm also fed up of people avoiding me/being scared of me, it really gets me down a great deal

The homophobic remarks that really get you are the ones you can't have punished: I frequently hear homophobic remarks from younger years aimed in my direction. You don't know who they are, you don't know what they look like, so they get away with it. It's terrible. That's why it's so important that people be taught about other sexualities in school: only through greater understanding can we overcome social stigma.

the anger manegement thing can be a life line at times bcos ive found that if u play ur cards right u can manipulate the school in your own direction. first thing u gotta think is if somepone pushes me today im not gonna let em, im gonna push back, make them start a fight with u is basically it, as soon as they throw the first punch u kick the living crap out of them. then the school sees them as a bully and that u were defending urself from an attack, and everyone else sees the guys as a wimp bcos he got beat up by a "queer" and you end up with a few less people ripping u bcos they dont want the same reputation on their name.

i wouldnt advise using it alot bcos the school will eventually catch on.

p.s. i know this sounds a bit harsh but it seems to be the only way some people learn to leave u alone

you should out that guy and get everyone talking about him
that sounds mean to but if he deosnt own up to it he deserves it
and get that bi girl to stand up for u more
make your own little clique and people will just leave you alone
especially by next year

I have people do that to me. I'm kinda in a similar situation as you except instead I'm just very outspoken and EVERYONE knows I'm gay. So there are a few people who make comments at me everyday but I learned to just ignore them because it is simply their immaturity that is wallowing off them when they do it so I really shouldn't care since I know that I'm more mature then them!!

I used to get all the name calling and stuff in the corridors. It was mainly from the years above me but now that im in my final year (sort of) all the arsewipes are gone. Im staying on 2 more years for a-levels but none of the arsewipes are smart enough to get back into school anyway hah.
I did have a couple of occasions once where some people a couple of years below me started name calling. But i took no notice of it and knew they would stop eventually.
The funny thing is i dont even know what i am at the minute. Its alll up in the airrr
While were on the topic of name calling and stuff i managed to get walloped in the head with something today. Left me with a bruised ear hah and slightly deaf for the next half hour after it. Must've been caught in crossfire hah my schools crazy!

Dan.

One of my best male friends is gay, and he received the same sort of response whilst we were still in school. He'd get the boys in our year calling him every name under the sun, and it was incredibly upsetting. He never let them show that it was getting to him, but I could tell it was. It got to the stage where he just stopped coming into school.
It's been two years since all of this, and now the main people who would say things have left, or realised that their homophobic abuse doesn't affect him anymore, because in a way, it's made him stronger,
My school/ sixthform have recently had assemblies on homophobia; gay marriages; we celebrated one month with rainbow flags in our school, with all pictures of gay and lesbian icons.

I don't really know what my point is.. So I'm going to stop rambling

I'm sorry you're in an environment like that, I used to be too. But I know of guys these days where everyone is really accepting, it varies by school and area.

When I read your post one thing came to the front of my mind and it goes like this:

The people that care, don't matter;
and the people that matter, don't care
.

Don't let them get to you.
