Perhaps TheGYC should have an option to make your profile appear public or not. Personally I would prefer my profile to be out there, but I can also understand why some people don't want that.
An alternative for some users now might be to suggest creating a second email address for signing up here, and you can forward the notification emails from that account to your main account anyway.
I use an email alias here.
