Hello all, First of all, let me apologize if I am posting this in the wrong place. I wasn't sure where my post really fit in...
Anyway, just for a bit of background, I am an 18 year old male in high school right now and will be a freshman at USC in the fall. Yesterday, I made a very big decision to come out to some people. So far my friends have been very supportive, but I've run out of the people that I really felt comfortable telling. I am not sure if I will tell anyone else for now.
Ok, so, now onto my problem. I am planning to start college completely out of the closet. I really just don't see a reason to hide it. Now, honestly, I am really kind of worried about being openly gay, esp. when I have to room with a guy next year. Admittedly, i don't talk to guys that much, but in my limited experience, many of them wouldn't be to fond of rooming w/ a gay guy. I know I shouldn't let that kind of thing bother me but I do. So, am I being completely ridiculous about this? Does anyone have any stories that they can share to help me out?
Thanks!

You're not being rediculous at all! It's fine that you can be openly gay. And about the roommate -- if you apply to a residence and leave the message that you are gay, then i'm sure that the university/college will oblige and set you up with a comfortable roommate. When I applied to residence, they were pretty thorough (they didn't ask the question if someone's gay, but they left an "additional comments" column).
If you could clarify: by "openly gay" do you mean that you're the type of person where it is noticeable, or do you mean that you'll be telling everyone straight out? Because you don't have to tell anyone, but tell them if they ask .
University/College is a great experience, and I predict that you'll have an awesome time! Good luck to ya! ^__^. "You don't need a reason to help someone"
