Now this is something that I'm curious about, what are others views on Communism and Capitalism.
I will admit, I'm left-wing (communist) but I can see why it will never work, no matter how much I want it in. But I can also see major flaws with capitalism.
So what are your views?

My view is that this thread has been done to death, have a look through the Big Debates section. It would be off the first page now, but it was intense, like the Cold War , and like the USSR it kinda fell apart at the end there.
Ho ho aren't I clever? You should always respect one's religious beliefs, however imaginary friends, delusional behaviour, a belief in a two thousand year old folk-lore should be treated by a professional.

It's all about finding a happy medium. For example, fire fighting has to be socialized, because if one house catches fire but the family doesn't have enough money to pay for firefighters, the house will make other houses catch on fire, and soon the whole town could be lit. However, consumer goods, like personal computers, work better with capitalism, as supply and demand and the customer's desires will drive the computer business to be as perfect as possible. So it's all about figuring out what should be socialized and what shouldn't.

One word that defies your stance on capitalism in regards to computers.
Microsoft.
Need I say more?
Argh, I don't want to get into another reds vs. whites debate, but oooh it's just so enticingly yummy You should always respect one's religious beliefs, however imaginary friends, delusional behaviour, a belief in a two thousand year old folk-lore should be treated by a professional.

You could say Apple. Despite many people hating Apple, many of Microsofts ideas have come from this wonderful fruit of a company. You could also have said Linux, another platform whose ideas are commonly stolen by the bigger boys. Not to mention the various hardware manufacturers who drive each other (AMD and Intel, the main 2 graphics card companies etc. etc.) "It doesn't take much to see that the problems of three little people don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world." - Rick

AMD and intel? Graphics cards? ATI and Nvidia are the graphics boys. AMD and Intel are processors.
Screw you Sxcriley, I will say more than one word, even though my word should be doctrine and reinterpreted incorrectly by people that want to justify whatever the hell they want.
Nvidia and ATI are good competition with eachother. Graphics cards have progressed quite well. And something as 'optional' as graphics cards, there's no problem with that. A good comparison is audio drivers. Creative audio has no competition, and has stagnated and achieved nothing much for some time really. The last driver they released was 2006 I think, and there are still compatibility issues with EAX technology in games, which they're in no hurry to fix, because they have no competition. So again, capitalism is a lovely little incentive, and if they had competition, it would work.
Microsoft for a long time has had no decent competition. Of course, you'd have nerds that wouldn't mind fiddling with every little file when they fired up their Linux OS, but they hardly held much competition. Mac has only in recent years put up any competition with their computers. They're enjoying substantial profits from their iPods and are now investing it in their computers. Perhaps this will hopefully force Microsoft forward, but looking at the train wreck that is Vista (which is exactly what happened with XP, so it shows their game hasn't improved).
There was a good scheme this one guy was implementing in... Africa, I think. He was developing cheap laptops that would be implemented as cheap educational supplements in struggling education systems. A kind of system that could be implemented with 'elements' of socialism in any country, as there are always struggling education establishments. If it wasn't totally monopolised, that would be a reality.
Damnit, Sxcriley
