Homophobes, and being called "Faggot"
Date: 2008/02/11 14:03 By: Durante Status:

So a lot of schools have homophobes and some of them aren't really a problem, and usually as you get older , or as you get into high school (i'm in 9th grade btw) homophobes become less "bothered" by gays, or should I say they don't stress upon it as much. But today I was walking home from school and was nearing my house when these two mexican kids who were walking down the street on the opposite side. One of them said "Fucking Faggot", and the other one who was busy with his game boy said "Oh, yeah he his". I just continued on walking and pretended to not have reacted to it, and I know i'm going to be dealing with a lot of this type of crap in the future, but It just really hurts, and these were like 5th, or 6th graders, and yeah i could have said something back, but I mean i'm not an aggressive person and I just get scared. I can never think of something to say, and who knows they might have older brothers (dads too). So I'm pretty much just bummed out on this experience and I feel like crap right now. I don't really know what I'm asking for, but I just wanted to say that this has happened to me, probably for the first time (it's happened before, but this one was different). So any advice, or similar experiences...? Please comment.

well for one, there will always be people in the world who treat us as lesser beings and its just a fact that we accept, but we shouldn't put up with. Should you want to say something to them go right ahead, you have every right to do so. Don't let them walk over you just because you're different and a better person. If you feel that you don't want to say anything, then fine. It's completely up to you. If you do want to say something here are a few ideas you can go about it:
1. You can go up to them and just say that they need to get over themselves and leave you alone. If you don't know them and they don't know you then it won't be an issue if they go running home to their fathers.
2. Don't be afraid to stand up and say something. By doing so you won't seem like a bully or an a$$hole.
and Lastly, this bit of advice is harder to put to use because it requires you to not care about what others think.
3. Be proud of who you are and just ignore them. At least you have the confidence to be yourself, than hide yourself just to make others happy.

What ever you choose to do, I hope this helped.
Kevin
My parents were extremely cruel to me. We had fire drills round the house so that in case of a fire we each had a special duty. My father had to grab the pets, my mother grabbed the jewellery, my brother ran out to get help and they told me to try and save the washer and dryer. -Ellen

Yes, insults suck, i know love. but we all have to take this into heart, The're just words. Every socioty has its own set of "Curse words" but if you think about it, will one "curse word" in america have the same insulting meaning half-way across the globe?

You'll find it in rebellion
Your body starts breathing

aaaah.
don't even let stuff like that get to you.
Some people are just jerkss.
all they really want is to bring down your confidence, and if you keep thinking about it, that's exactly what's going to happen.
so just ignore comments like that, it's complete stupidity.

yeah, some sophomore girl who i've never talked to told everyone i was gay at my school a couple weeks. I got a lot of stares at first but now everyones cool with me and it feels great to able to be out and saying whats on my mind instead of just laughing at my own jokes in my head like when i see a ridiculous outfit. The only really bad thing that has happened to me was someone wrote, "You're a dick sucker," on my locker, i know who it was and i really regret not keeping the note to get him in trouble, cuz everyone hates him. But the other day we had the Gay Marriage debate in Gov. of course i was all for it and i was openly saying i didn't choose to be gay, but the girl next to me being the bitch she is started quoting the bible. so after class i asked her what the bible said about her being a bitch..it felt good, cuz i know that would've been bothering me for a lot longer time than if i wasn't out. and some girls in my class hugged me after saying that girl was a bitch...so pretty much most things are cool. my school might be more liberal or something but it was not a huge deal me being gay

If someone called me a poofter I'd say yes I can vanish.
If someone called me a faggot and I was alone with this person and I wouldn't totally get my ass kicked by this person, I'd say "Your just jealous because your bestfriend told you I can suck dick better then your girlfriend". If this was in a class room I'd say: "That's just wishful thinking on your part"

Lately for me its gotten worse into high school, although that might have more to do with moving from Cali to Maine. I've gotten used to being called faggot and I usually just tell them to ask their dads when they frame it as a question or just yell breeder back at them........of course those are really only options for me because they are always the same people and I already know that I run faster than them. Actually, I don't care as much about the name calling as the food being "accidentally" thrown at you, especially when its from a car window, that sucks and if its a blizzard thats still in its cup it kinda hurts too.
I'm happy so if you don't like it then you can just put it in your juicebox and suck it!
