"I want a boyfriend/girlfriend"

How many of you have said this?

Answer : almost all of you.

Most threads on here ask of wanting a boyfriend/girlfriend and how to get one. So, as ive been dating for a good few years now, (and appear to be quite successful at it) i'll give you a few secrets about getting one.

1) Stop Looking. Yeah i know, this one sounds crazy right? But seriously if you stop looking it wont bother you as much. Instead...

2) Hang out more with your friends. This is the ticket! By having fun with your friends, you are subconciously flirting, and giving off a sexual vibe, people around notice this, and as you make more friends, your kool, unconcerned attitude, becomes a turn on!

3) Be yourself! You must be yourself!! Or else what is there for people to fall for? If you find yourself hanging around with people and having to pretend to be someone else, then get rid! Yeah its gonna be hard for a while, until you find a few friends where u can truely be you!! Then trust me, its an awfullot better then where u were before!!

Remember to smile!! Its an aphrodisiac, basically that means, it turns people on! If u pass someone, smile at them, its free and makes you feel good about yourself.

So thats it, the secrets of getting a boyfriend or girlfriend, are just as easy as making yourself happy! give it patience and enjoy it guys!!!

very true. or do more 'community' things and make new friends--that also helps you to seem more "notice-able"

I disagree..
Your right.. a smile goes a long way.. and im sure that is all true.. but truth be told.. most people are on this website to talk to people and probably to search for people.. its hard to find the 'right person' in real life if your gay..
yerp.. you should have fun.. but you shouldnt stop looking..
to stop looking is like saying..
i know.. I want great GCSE results [or whgatever exam boards you all do]
so.. lets try not revising..
fact is.. you get out of life what you put in.. you shouldnt stop searching unless your calling quits or you found someone..

there's a difference between looking and looking though i think.

there's looking as in keeping an eye out for someone you think might be interesting

and then there's looking as in you're just desperate for a relationship and end up in the depths of despair if you dont find someone in a week- then you enter a vicious circle because no one finds a misery attractive.

and loads of people dont bother revising- i didnt revise for my A levels but still came out with 4 A's because im good at exams. likewise, its perfectly possible to find something when you're not looking for it.

I agree with Invidia. The original advice was... alright, but flawed. I could compare it to many computer security systems which on the front seem fine but are also flawed... but I won't.

But in closing though I will say that...

"I want a boyfriend/girlfriend"

I want, does not get. =P

This is also the key to success. Being young and enjoying ourselves doesn't last forever. I'm enjoying it while I can. Srs bzns in relationships comes later, imo.

haha. i agree.. i dont know when people do that it makes them seem desparate...no offence to anyone. but i personally prefer to go out with a friend that i know in real life[whether it be a boy or girl]. but if i can connect with someone here really well and they live in my area.. hey, i might just give it a shot.

I think it all depends on the kind of relationship you want to find / have:

1. Deep, serious relationships usually happen naturally, and unexpectedly.
2. 'Flings' -- or short-term relationships (even though they might seem serious at the time) usually happen when you kind of want it to happen. To get these, you just have to play your cards right when you meet new people.
3. Dating somebody to get to know them better -- Leave a good impression, ask them to hang out, and get to know each other better. See if you're compatiable, and at the same time be able to say, "I'm not single!" LOL

I think the best way to get into a relationship is to just meet lots of new people, and invest a little more into your aquaintaces. If you don't make a romantic connection, you can at least make friends.

I am in a relationship right now and I can tell y'all right now, something is definitely working. And if he happens to be reading this... he knows it.

But, you can be committed and still be open minded. We've even talked about things like this, and lets face it, everyone knows that teenage relationships don't always last forever. I made an enemy out of one of my exes last year and tbh we did some things to each other that didn't deserve done. I recently made it up with him and cleared the air and it made me think. Instead of making enemies of people make friends.

If a relationship I am in didn't happen to work out, I'd at least like to think I could be the person's friend and be there for them. I like to think I can be like that.

I think half the problem these days is people are living their life before they give it a chance. I mean, I won't lie, I want to be with my boyfriend, well, for ever... and I'm honestly not kidding. But if something doesn't work out, it doesn't work out, and you have to just work it out together, whatever that may be.

That's about the best advice I can give, is just take things one step at a time, and most of all... enjoy yourself.

Also another important thing is trust.

Last year I had cronic [and you will see what I mean by cronic as I explain] issues with trust. Let alone the underlying anxiety, depression and paranoia, along with mental illness running in the family and a touch of Asperger Syndrome. Yeah, no points to the person who guesses that I was so paranoid back then, that if someone so much as blinked in the opposite direction I thought they didn't want to know me.

But... that was then, this is now. I'm over nearly all of that and I can trust the majority of people now, like any normal human being would. If someone feels trusted, I think they are actually more likely to live up to that. If I feel trusted by someone, I know for certain that I will respect it more than someone who keeps me on a string, so to speak. It's a natural human reaction. Psychology. The more defenses someone puts up and the more precautions they take, the more the person will probably try and challenge it.

I know I probably sound like a broken old record keep posting like this, but this post seems a particularly good place for me to post things like this and I'd like to think I could at least help some people. My past experiences make for good evening stories too Lol.

So the moral of the story is so far... have fun, be nice, don't bank on everything, have faith in people, help each other out and just enjoy life.

I completely agree with you. You don't find the right person when you're looking because all you will see is what you want, and when you're not letting the idea of finding someone haunt your every thought, you have more lee-way to actually get to know someone rather than the spontaneous I-just-got-a-boyfriend!

Indeed, the best relationship I had ever been in was basically a slap in the face when I realized that I did like him. And, my memory is so good, I never have to study for finals.

hmmm i think i agree with the first comment made. I personally believe you meet people when you least expect it. Saying that, I've been with someone whom I was very good friends with for a few months..
It all depends on the person, I guess. I personally wouldn't go out 'looking' for people, but that's just me.
