I have personally. I was trying to convince myself as much as the next guy though really. See, I live in a rather homophobic area, and went to an extremely homophobic school, being gay was just not an option, not that it is, but you get me. So, I dated a girl to try to convince myself as much as others that that was what I wanted... It obviously wasn't ^.^ If one hides nothing, where is the fun in getting to know him?

No, but I dated a girl 'cause I was kind of pushed into it by my friend....... I think I made her cry :nervous: You should always respect one's religious beliefs, however imaginary friends, delusional behaviour, a belief in a two thousand year old folk-lore should be treated by a professional.

I am a girl, so that hasn't been the case :] but I did date a boy for a long while to convince myself (and others) that I was straight. I knew conciously a year into the relationship that I was completely gay. I stayed with him for three years. It's really not worth the stress and the guilt, especially if you like the other person as a friend. He is my best friend so it killed me to know I was decieving him and in the end hurting him more. Not to mention the fact that I was completely miserable because I was lying not only to myself but to everyone I knew and loved. ~Paige

I kind of tried, but it didn't turn out so well
I am just staying single to not get people thinking. My one friends thinks I am just too shy, but she doesn't know that I am gay. Hell, if she knew she might understand.

I did it more to try and "veer" myself to be straight. I was like "Oh, Well, Maybe I'll start liking girls." It never happened. Me and her are like best friends though. We go boy hunting! So she's not too fussed. xxx

Honestly, I've never really cared much what people thought of me, aside from those most important to me (those being the guys who I had crushes on). The only reason why I was ever in the closet was to guard my mum and dad from the inevitable pain and distress of discovering that their son fancied other guys- I never really cared what they thought, I just didn't want them to get hurt-and so I hid that part of myself until my mum hacked my Myspace a few weeks ago and hit the jackpot. Seeing as I was (and still am, to an extent) a social pariah, I didn't have much to lose by being different-no reputation to skew. I was (and still am) just another nameless, meaningless face in the gene pool of humanity... The only people I really sought to impress were my crushes-I would pray to God (yeah, I was Christian until grade 7) that one of them would love me back, and be with me forever-of course, this never happened. I've only really liked two girls in my time-one of them moved away (I cried for months about that), and I could never muster the courage to talk to the other-she has a boyfriend now, of course. So, in short, no-I've never dated a girl to convince others that I'm straigt. I believe gay guys who do so are selfish, inconsiderate pricks-why would you put a woman through that degree of emotional distress for the sake of your own reputation? I believe people who toy with other people's emotions are amongst the lowest forms of life, personally...

I've had a girlfriend before, but I didn't date her to make people think I was straight... it was more of a self discovery thing.
Though we've gone our separate ways she still remains dear and means a lot to me as a close friend.

I've dated a girl because I'm open to that, I've never really felt a need to deny who I am, but I don't broadcast it either. There are people in the world so hungry, that God cannot appear to them except in the form of bread. ~ The Mahatma Gandhi

i have never dated a girl to make people think im not gay. Im glad i did that because when i came out most of my friends knew and did not care so it just made it easier to come out. when i asked them what gave it away they said "well one you on the swim team and we are in speedos all the time" hehe "and you are never hitting on girls like the rest of us."

I have, was quite a long time ago but when things started getting serious I knew I didnt like it and it wasnt what I wanted so I was quickly out of there.
It was more to try and convince myself though. Even though I class myself as bisexual at the minute, I think I am gay really, as I like the look of girls to an extent but I dont seem to be able to go "far" with them.

I almost dated a girl who I am now very good friends with. At the time I had a crush on her, though whenever I thought about having sex with her I cringed. We went out to a gig and dinner after but then I told her I only wanted to stay friends.
In short I thought it would be unfair on her to be in a relationship when I knew deep down that I was gay. meh

back in the day when i was still in denial about it with myself. i did it kinda subconciously ... a mind in denial about something is sometimes a very complex mental state. anywho, yep! she was also the first person i came out to
