School compulsory
Date: 2008/01/30 05:52 By: SimplyGuy Status:

To be honest, In my school there isn't one poster, backing schools out, or nothing in sex ed that has anything to do with gay people.

I strongly think it should be compulsory to have some kind of lession within sex ed to do with gay bi and les teens.

Schools Out should contact High schools and explain to them how it is really needed that people understand how homophobic is as bad as racism or anything like that.

My school isn't a good example of one that supports, gay bi les teens, no a non uniform day one guy had a girls hoodie on and they sent him home saying its not acceptable, it wasn't even that bad.

Having a homophobic school is like having a racist school,
am i wrong?

There will shortly be a relaunch of a policy already in effect with regqard to how to treat LGBT pupils in schools. Hopefully that'll have some impact. I have the documents on my school user area (just in case).

Hi mate, i don't think you're wrong at all. i think that having a homophobic school is worse than/as bad as having a racist school.

nothing is done about the suject of GLBT teenagers in my school either. lets hope things change soon eh?

keep smiling x

Well, at my school during sex ed (the girls and boys are separate freshman year, so I don't know if the guys heard this) the teacher told us about this one lesbian teacher and how a lot of students have come out in her office. That's the only mention of homosexuality as part of the curriculum, but I agree, it should be mandatory, or at least there should be a rule that if a student raises their hand in class to make a homophobic remark, they have to get punished.

aw, I'm sorry. Having a homophopic school is like having a racist school. But you can tell a person's race A LOT better than someones sexuality.

I know eh... Tell me bout it...
In sex ed, years 7-9(Thats the years that we do it) we have not 1 mention of gay ppl, except for when the teacher asks, who thinks that should be allowed to have children, and everyone discusses how they think it's completly wrong. That's it...
The boys are soo homophobic, usnless they're talking about lesbians. (Of course).
And all the girls are shit scared of lesbians coz they all thing they'll get hit on or something. Yeah, right...
And if that's not bad enough, the teachers ain't no better either. They make rude or inaproperate comments about gay people, and have no respect. Teachers...
I think more needs to be done to let us have the freedom we deserve...

P.S I get the fact that not everyone is ok with Gays, lesbians, Bi's or Transexuals, but come on... We don't treat straight people differently...
(Well, at least I don't... lol.)
