Is there any advice anyone can give me for shaking off a crush?
I have it real bad for my best friend, and I have had a similar feeling (in some form or another) for almost 5 years now. Strange, I know, creepy ... I dunno, but I really want to break it.
It feels like it's getting better, but he's extremely straight, and I have no shot with him, so I really need to get over this crush, because I feel like I could be better friends with him if the crush wasn't there. Things could be slightly less awkward, you know?

Been there. I came down from it by being forced away from him (overseas holiday) and mentally trying to just think of him as a friend, nothing more. It was tough, it took time, and it hurt like shit, who knows if it really worked.
удачи You should always respect one's religious beliefs, however imaginary friends, delusional behaviour, a belief in a two thousand year old folk-lore should be treated by a professional.

удачи It's gotten better, it does hurt though. I think about him every night, and it's this hopeless "never meant to be" feeling that replaces any happiness I might have mustered up.
But me thinking of him as just a friend, and mentally forcing myself to not like him, and forcing myself to know it will not happen is begin to pay off. He hurts me less and less, and I am much less sensitive to his actions.

wish i had the definite answer 2 this 1 myself i've had 2 crushes on straight guys. For both of them i found that distancing myself from them was a good solution. accepting that i was falling for them, also helped, but also aknowleging that this wasn't going 2 go away over night. Focusing mentally on their nagative attributes. saddly i wasn't able 2 completly get ride of the crush, but it's died down,a dn isn't quite so much a fctor.

I found that looking for someone else works and trying to be faithful to them even if you're not officially going out.

I have pretty much the same thing for my best friend, whom I also happen to be rooming with, which doesn't help. Ugh. I'm hoping it will pass, an I'm pretty sure it will on its own. It doesn't make it any easier.
