Oh yeah my mom has those jabs at me every now and then.

She called me a fruit one time. I mean, it really hurt me because she knows I'm gay.

And it's quite difficult to for me to get over it. But I know she loves me a lot so... I guess I have to.

But I can't help but feel I disappointed her.

i have come out to many people. many of my friends no?
and so does my parents.

my friends accept it immediatly saying it is my choice and it doesnt chane who i am to them at all

my parents didnt see it coming at all. however they said to me themselves, that they dont give a fuck who i am.... but they would prefer if i wasnt., but they dont give a fuck if i was. they would still love me. BUT they think at 16 i am to young to actually know. my sister is BI and 21 and she is still unsure of her sexuality... but i am sure, but they think i aint... I AM.

but thats just parents for you.

My parents can be really hurtful sometimes without even knowing it (well, they don't know I'm gay yet, but it still hurts). Like for example, my dad absolutely hates gays, and whenever there's a story on the news about gay rights or anything he stands up, curses and storms out the door and he's miserable the rest of the day, and mom doesn't really mean to be insulting, but she sometimes is, like she accepts homosexuals, but believes that they shouldn't "prance around in fruity parades all the time" and not make it publicly known. and whenever a news story about gay rights comes on (which is quite often now in Canada) she screems (in shock) and changes the channel really fast. And just today, I found out that they actually know the family of one of the guys I like from school, and they were making fun of them too, which hurt even more.

I know mom would accept me if I came out, but I don't know how she would react to it, and if dad ever found out, it'd be like dropping a nuke over the house lol. I'm thinking of coming out just after my 16th birthday (in march), but I don't want to wreck the relationship I have with my parents. Any advice?

My perents are kidna like Toccata's, save that my mom doesn't really mind when my sister watches Gay, Str8 or Taken, or Will&Grace openly in our family room, and my dad didn't block LOGO (the gay channel I guess) in our cable channels, but he still curses about the gay news story's but I think that's because something happened to him as a child. As for insults: some kids at camp said something like that and I didn't care, never have, mostly because about two years ago I totally hated gays, so it's kinda like I don't care anymore, so aside from the interest that comes from being gay I don't normaly do many gay things, and my sister some times "Quit being gay!" if I'm hyper and hang on my brother-in-law to much, but she says it as a joke, so it doesn't bother me.

. . . Wow, talk about rambleing.

It might have been an accident but when my mum says stuff about bi's i think she means it

(which really annoys me).She says stuff like " Bi-sexuals are people who are being greedy and can't make up there minds." Her cousan is a lesbian but she doesn't have a problem with that.

wtf. So i'm wondering if i'm ever gonna her. ( i'll probably tell my dad though).
(sorry .i'm blabbing on.)

Anyways i think what your mum said was probably an accident.

The worst insult I had ever received was when a friend said that he wouldn't be able to say he loved me, even as a friend, because it was "against nature". He still hasn't realised that he said anything wrong. He even knew that I was gay at the time. It really hurt. But my parents have never said anything. They have no idea, thank god.

i was called gay as an insult not from my mum but from my grandad when i was 4 -5 years old, i didnt what it meant but i still knew it was supposed derogative, and all becouse i wasnt feeling like doing much that day he said " es marica o que?" which translates to are you gay or what?, and worst was that i called a few school mates gay the following week and i got in trouble, but i did then learned the meaning of the word.
and all i got to say now is "yes grampa, i am"

I always find people misuse the word gay and It really annoys me when they use it as an insult

In my junior school they used to come up with all different meanings and they used to throw the word around (not literally) as if they couldn't hurt anyone's feelings.
But the people in my year now use swearing to insult each other instead.

I don't really get the same thing, but i know my dad and brother are pretyt homophobic and come out with the odd comment, in fact my brother once said "don't be gay" when we were watching something with gay guys on tv...

I just keep a straight face (no pun intended) and inside feel a little crap.

OMG, my brother used to always ask me about what girl I was dating. Then, I'd say I was dating anyone, then he'd said, "What's wrong with you, by your age I was dating girls." Then, he got so worried, he talked about it with my mom (after she knew), and he said he just wished our relationship was better. But maybe it would be if he stopped trying to force me to get a girlfriend.
