I've had arguments with alot of people about this. No, "God" (if he exsists) doesn't hate homosexuals, he hates what they do, and as it says in the bible or something, we have to try to "fight the temptation". I don't really believe in god, so that means nothing to me. Im basicly more spiritual/wiccan/bhuddist belief wise. What do you guys think?

I have a couple of views on this...
1. IF GOD EXISTS, it would be a strange thing for him to hate people on the basis that they are gay. I didn't choose to be gay. And when i 'became' gay - at puberty, i wasn't innocent enough not to expect it: i never had a desire to be gay or wanted to be gay before puberty. Why would god hate something that is innocently and unintentionally turned out to be gay? It would be like him hating anyone who is covered in red paint: consider the following... A man is walking along the road and for whatever reasons someone accidentally spills a bucket of red paint over him from a balcony above him. He did not expect this to happen to him, and he can do nothing about it - the red will never come off because it is magical (just use your imagination: if you find this hard to imagein, replace the paint with acid: he will always be changed by the effects).
Why would god hate someone who just turned out to be red in the course of his life? Why would he hate someone who turned out to be gay!?
We turn out to be human. We start as a group of cells, a group of cells which turn out to be a feotus, which turn out to be an unborn baby, which turns out to be a human etc... the human turns out to be white, be black. We turn out to be gay! And what?
2. So If god does hate gay people... what can we do about it? Our natures are as such that we cannot change our sexualities (although naive religious people might say otherwise). It's ingrained in human nature and society (goes back to the Greek times when it was a standard thing). What are we to do? Stop ourselvelves from being gay! That's rediculous because i am not gay because i have sex with men, but because i am attracted to men. And i cannot stop being attracted to men, although I can stop having sex with men. Anyone who says "that's fine then, god's ok with you so long as you don't have sex" is clearly wrong. It would be like god hating people who chop wood but not lumber jacks.
So basically: if god does hate gay people it would be an odd thing to do. And even if he does, then we can't do anything about it anyway!

God loves all his children. Gay, Straight whatever. God Created us (I'm saying this on the bases of believing him) Thus God made us gay. Why would he/she/it hate what they made?
Anyways...God never came out and said that he/she/it hated gays. It was the word of man who said God hates gays. God only asked for our faith...We were even given a list of ten things to NOT do or become...Please, someone point out "Thou shall not be a homosexual" for me....I must have missed it
Anyways, that is my thoughts...God is tolerante and understanding, humans are not. God is right, humans are not always right...Just keep that in mine next time a person tells you that you will burn in hell for being a homosexual ...If we do burn, save me an extra warm spot

I think it says homosexuality is a sin in the bible, but didnt it also say that if you belive in jesus all your sins are forgiven? If god hates gays then he hates people who lie just as much. and people who have sex before there married or whatever the sin is. Thats how i see it as. thats all assuming god is real.

If god was real, then he would have created all of the universe, the animals and the humans. god is meant to be benevolent (good)(the devil being evil) so why would he create people that would be dammed for all eternity for being themselves.
The logical conclusion is the god does not exist.
Therefore if god does not exist, so who cares if we r gay, bi or str8, Only religious people who r full of themselves (and the religion) with too much time on there hands. -Unknown_101

I don't think that is a logical conclusion. The conclusion might be that a) God created things which he doesn't like. It would be odd. And it would make God not all loving. But it would not make him non existant. it may make the christian god implausible, not necc. non existant.
As I said in my post. It would be an odd thing for God to do. And if he did do it, we can't do anything about it - so we shouldn't even worry about what God thinks.
It's much easier to argue like this ASSUMING that god exists. What i said shows that we shouldn't worry about it EVEN IF he does. You do not need to prove that god does not exist in order to be find a resolution. Hamish!

I'm a Wicca-Christian, It's a mix of both religions, But I take the wicca side on homosxuality and say that sexuality is a gift from God and to be used in a respectable way that makes us happy

Hamishrp, I couldnt disagree with you more. Homosexuality is not a random event, it is something we grow into. As we get older we start to prefer one sex over another. And personally, i knew i was gay before puberty. I am wiccan/bhuddist beliefs. It is niave to believe in god if you ask me. You believe blindly on the fact that mostpeople in the world do. Its called the biggest bandwagon ever.

Hamishrp, I couldnt disagree with you more. Homosexuality is not a random event, it is something we grow into.
I couldn't agree with you more! You have misread my posts. I believe that we become a particular sexuality. I'm not saying that it is by chance, but it is not something that we decided, or that we - or anyoen else - could have predicted would happen. When i say by chance, i mean it in a subjective and not litteral way ("I turned out gay"). Of course in reality there is some emperical reasoning to do....
As we get older we start to prefer one sex over another.
Are you saying that you were straight before you were gay? You started to be gay rather than straight! That would make you quite rare! Excluding bisexual people, most gay people tend to just like boys and any 'liking' of girls is not 'real'. For me and many others i didn't start prefering boys over girls: i simply started liking boys!
It is niave to believe in god if you ask me.
Whilst I don't believe in God and am sure of my thinking this, i think it is rational to believe in God. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to do some academic groundwork before making these claims. You have made an assumption in the same way you assumed that i was religious.
It is in fact easier to argue about this without bringing in the debate of "does god exist". The question here is that "IF GOD did exist, COULD HE hat egay people?". Not "Does God Exist? And if the answer to the last question is yes, does the said god hate gay people?"
Answers start with understanding questions Hamish!

If god created us or helped create us it's not logical to believe that he would hate us. And if being homesexual is a sin, then god will forgive us. People sin all of the time, and it is not just gay people, everyone sins, all of the time, that is why god brought jesus to us to forgive us of our sins. God seems like a tolerant person and why should he not accept everyone, he knows that no one is perfect.

No, god doesn't hate us, but his "trusty" followers do. Honestly, I believe that life is a test from god. He then gives everyone specific tests--some people are born with one leg, some are bipolar, and others are gay. It's just a test from him. He doesn't hate us, and everybody has some sort of test from god. Your goal and purpose in life is to pass that test.
Another thought: God never said being gay was a sin--it was human beings that said this. Sure, it may mention in the bible--loosely--but the bible was written by human beings... not god.

don't worry dude, god doesn't hate us, those who "speak for him" do, and well, they're just concided dumbasses. sry for being blunt but most of them are. The church points down at minorities as a way of keeping themselves afloat, and keeping people with them cause, well let face it alot of the stuff they say if u stop to think about it make no sense or is total bs. so they have to have to appeal to someone and thats the lonely, desprate, concided, and hateful their only arguments are obsucur passages where gays where involved, but weren't the contibuting factors, they just like to make it look that way. Like sodom and gomoro, there were gays in the city, but that wasn't the only thing, that place was the cest pool of sin, theft, muder, gultiny, rape, etc. comited regularly on the streets, in brode day light, etc. and whats his face even offered up his daughters to bandits and rapist to leave him alone (lovely role model really), but ofcourse you ask and "good christain" about it and they'll tell you it was destroyed because of gays. so yeah. who cares if a religion hates u, as long as in your heart you are happy then ur god is happy, because thats all he wants from any of us, to live good happy lives as we are. The proud to be origanaly me, Mauri C!

I donno what "Good Christians" you seem to meet but that isn't always the case where I live. Many "Good Christians" around here will say gays were a factor but they will also mention all the other acts of "sin".
This is one of the reasons I dislike talking about Religion. You always seem to find people who judge everyone of a certain faith one way. There are many "Good Christians" in my family and non of them are as bad as what it seems people on these forums make them out to be.
I know there are real buttholes out there that will say God hates Gays. But it isn't only Christian Religion that puts down something like this. I really do get sick of this generalization. Like when someone says "Most Christians...."...Have you meet all the Christians in the the world to know what most say and think? Does one bashing justify the right to bash another? Just because SOME Christians view homhosexuals as sinner and dirty, not all do. And I know many who don't. Many of the churchs I have been to teach acceptance to all no matter what you are. God doesn't control anyones destiny. It isn't really a widly believe idea. Of course there are many who believe in a set path of life and no matter what you can not change what is and what will be, but God isn't really related to that. Since we really can't know whether or not our god hates us, the results are concocted by our mind. Therefore whether or not your god hates you, depends on your view of your god (loving and gentle or spiteful and perfectionistic and or strict), and your relationship with your god ( do you believe you have wronged your god), and how you feel about your sexuality ( are you disgusted with it, are you happy with it, content?). Honestly guys, who the hell cares? Why do you need anyone elses input as to how you live your life? It sounds as if you're afraid of going to hell? Are you? Seriously, people put to much emphasis on heaven, it's completely over rated, if everything in the bible is correct and therefore truth in gods eyes (if he does in actual fact exsist) then heaven would be a very boring and empty place, if I had to give up my attraction towards men to go to heaven, I'd rather go to hell! I was always attracted to males, since I was very young, but it was only when I was old enough to understand and recognise my attraction that I truely understood 'why'. Because guys are hot! There is just no getting past that, no amount of alcohol, drugs or physchotherepy is ever going to change that fact, at least, not in my eyes. And to me, that is all that counts, all that matters. Everything I hold sacred comes from my feelings and personal beliefs, and I don't know about you, but I like who I am! (oh, and I am aware of my opening line, no pun intended :op)
