well ok yes i do wish i were straight for the reason that i'm the only gay guy i know in my community and all my friends have someone.... one of my best friends has like 2-3 people really. i mean it's really hard seeing all of that and makes my heart sink. everyone in my group now has had sex too... i've never even kissed someone! i read a lot of the replies here and i relate to them alot. i mean i don't care if it's awkward to do things in public between two guys or girls or w/e it is but i just really want to have a relationship with another guy public or private.
but for some reason there's a part of me that says no i don't wish it but i don't know why. it's like there's something more to it that i don't see it.. i really want to make my name into history. but i don't know how i'll do it i mean i just wanta become a teacher when i grow up... w/e all i know is is that i might be able to use it somehow.

although it was kinda pointless posting this. i mean yeah i'm pretty sure you wanted to see how many people relate to you and all but if you think about it you can figure that out for yourself because so many gay people get shit just for being gay. so yeah. those who don't wish it and are sure they wouldn't wish it are really lucky people and should know how lucky they really are. v_v

I sometimes wish that I were a straight GIRL, because then I could have all the boys I wanted and no one would care.

But I'm proud that I'm gay and wouldn't change it for anything. I don't know how else to be...this is ME!!!!!
"Our country is founded on a sham: our forefathers were slave-owning rich white guys who wanted it their way. So when I see the American flag, I go, 'Oh my God, you're insulting me.' That you can have a gay parade on Christopher Street in New York, with naked men and women on a float cheering, 'We're here, we're queer!' -- that's what makes my heart swell. Not the flag, but a gay naked man or woman burning the flag. I get choked up with pride."

I've always had this niggling feeling that I want to be straight, and I've yearned for it even more since coming to University. It's mainly because where I now live, Bognor Regis, is a predominantly straight town (in fact the only other gay person I know is my housemate!), which means there's not much of a chance for a relationship with anyone.
I've had no problem coming out to my housemates or to work, or to people at Uni. Most of them seem to take it at face value, in fact, some of the straight guys try to flatter themselves by thinking that I like them lol.
I came out when I was 16, at college, even though I always got bullied at school for being gay. I think I knew from an early age that I was different to the other guys. Coming out was really difficult, especially as it took me another 18 months before I came out to my parents.
Now I'm open about it, I still get that feeling of being alone. I don't seem to have met enough gay people to hang around with in Uni yet, which is a little depressing, but I'm sure I'll find some more in due course.
Anyway, long story short, yes, sometimes, I really do wish I could be straight, just because then, my parents wouldn't be so disappointed, and they'd be proud that I could "carry on the line" with my own family.
Sad, I know, but true.

As has already been mentioned, I think it depends on my mood really.

But overall, I guess I wish that I was not, purely because it is far easier leading a straight life. When you are straight it's easy to fit in and public displays of affection seem less awkward. Also, it is far easier to find other people too. Guess a straight life is more convenient and easy too. Being a guy in this situation is quite hard because it's not seen as a 'macho' thing.

But hey, my life could be a lot worse, so I guess I can't complain...

I think you have touched upon an important point too. It really depends where I am. For example, when I am back home in essex, there are no people in know there who are in the same position as me. It's a very straight area that I live in with no where to go. Don't get me wrong, I love straight clubbing with 'the lads', but I also wish there was some place I could go to meet other people in my position.
At Uni however, I enjoy and embrace my feelings a little more, partly because I have a few gay/bi mates and I can chat to them about things, which really does help. I generally feel more comfortable with it when I am at uni and there are places for me to go as well, which helps.

Personally I have never ever wanted to be straight. Even though I am not out and community and family is very anti it (Muslim community >.< damn that religion!). I still would never want to be straight because I think being gay is fine.

The problem is not mine. I'm fine and not hurting anyone. The problem is society. It is them that needs to shut up and accept me!

I can't imagine being straight though. Personally I think it would suck to be straight. Seems so boring and I can't identify with any of it. Also I can't understand the hate either. Being gay is obviously genetic and incontrollable. From my own experience I never ever felt sexual feelings for females. So I don't see how it is a choice.

Yeah, sometimes I do think everything would be easier if I was straight. I'm not ashamed of being gay, I'm perfectly ok with it and made great friends because of it but honestly, it makes life soo much more complicated. Thats something i do NOT need!
Meeting people and relationships are much more difficult being gay. And it means people prejudge you. I'm ok with being who I am, but being gay does seem to make life more difficult

Maaate, you more or less just described my life story! Im waiting for university, thats where its all gonna kick off

And no, I really dont wish I was straight, it would mean I wouldnt have most of the friends that I have now, even though life would be a lot easier in many other ways.

Your post got me thinking... I remembered I was always friends with girls from an early age, all the other boys used to rush off to play football at break time, I'd sit down with my girl friends and eat my lunch over pleasant conversation.

Anyway, long story short, yes, sometimes, I really do wish I could be straight, just because then, my parents wouldn't be so disappointed, and they'd be proud that I could "carry on the line" with my own family.

Difficult... I wouldn't care if my parents were disappointed or not, I've only been honest with them by coming out, and if they had rejected me (which they didn't ) they would be the ones at fault, not me.
