I'm athetist. I don't believe all that bullshit about a higher being, sounds like a fairy tale to me.
I never believed in god or any religion.

i'm agnostic, my beleifs are strong and spiritual. I beleive that when we die, are souls are cleansed and we're given a different form, based on one of the elements (fire, water, air, earth, ice, volt, plant, mind, light, dark and time) and we're free to roam the spirit world. Our spirits can travel back to earth, which is just a trial for the spirit world, to see the loved ones they miss. It's a bit final-fantasy-esque, but it's what i think. Laugh if you want, i'm used to it. ahoy-hoy!

How did you come by these beliefs? Or: how can dark and light both be elements, when one is just the absence of another? Or: what is air, specifically? The air in Los Angeles is made of of different things to the air of say Norway. The air on earth, taken generally, is different to the air on Mars. Or: why plant, and not flesh? Or: why water AND ice, but not steam? Or is that what you mean by air? Or: can these elemental spirit beings travel to earth and see not loved ones, but parts of the earth they didn't have a chance to see while alive, or even to planets other than earth? (I'm not being a dick, I'm just curious.) Music that people with taste are listening to this week:

right, let's start...
light and dark are not just absences of each other, they're balanced forces that keep the world from getting more of one than another.
air is just basically gas. Any form of anything in a gasseus state
flesh isn't an element, because each body is a temple, which is made of a fussion of the elements. Because it is not naturally outside the body, it is not an element.
water and ice are different. Water refelcts liquids, and ice refelcts cold. It's not what they are, it's their purpose. Steam, however, would fit under air, which is made from water and fire.
spirits can travel to earth (the trial world) and see anything they want. ahoy-hoy!

id say im agnostic, although amgznthn, your beliefs sound kinda cool im not entirely sure what i believe, but i believe theres something
organised religion frightens me a little i just see it as a form of control, not meaning to offend anyone if you know your enemy and you know yourself you need not fear the result of 1000 battles

im atheist.
the element stuff is hard to believe, and it is slightly misleading. because the entire thing isn't really about light or ice. its about the metaphors that each evoke, not about the actual material.
plus the trial world notion mixed in with absolutely no form of authority figure is very illogical. exactly who or what (god is not a who he is what for instance) is trailing you, and exactly who or what allows some form of access to the spirit world?
plus why would things in the spirit (immaterial) world consist of things from the material world?
i have no idea what i believe in, and im not going to just go for something just because its there or i feel the need to believe in something to feel good about myself, or for peer pressure (not that im suggesting this of anyone) so im waiting to find what it is that i believe, and itll probably take a long time.
but i believe in some form in the separation of form and mind, and maybe death is just the cancellation of the form, but im not sure. and i defiantly know of an undercurrent of force behind things, but again, im not sure.

Light is a force, all "dark" is is an absence of light.

W00t, finally a place were we can discuss different methods of not believing in God.
I'm an Atheist because early on I understood that both the concept and the religion I grew up with didn't make any sense... I later found out Christianity was just bad remake of previous pagan religions.
I don't believe in a Theistic-god, unattached to a religion because there's no evidence for it and no sign of any global, moral justice. I'm agnostic when it comes down to a Deistic-god.

having properly made up my mind i suppose you could say what i believe is similar to the force in star wars, theres something around us that connects everything and to an extent influences our lives (like luck i guess), but it doesnt require or want worshiping.
to be honest i can believe far more easily in paranormal things like aliens, the loch ness monster, bigfoot etc tham i can in religion, it just feels so false and hipocritical if you know your enemy and you know yourself you need not fear the result of 1000 battles

I used to be an atheist for a LONG time... but after discovering some serious surprising flaws in evolution I slowly fell into agnosticism then finally became a christian. All I really have to say I guess is just look on BOTH sides. Before I simply just ate up whatever my science professor fed me and whatever I read in an science textbook . You can find plently of sites {Even Non-religious believe it or not!} that provide scientific evidence disproving evolution {Main reason for my athestic beliefs }.

So what are these surprising flaws then? I've been presented with a variety of so called flaws by my family, but after closer scrutiny, they simple did not hold up. Might I also add though, that science is not about taking what sounds good, but about taking what there is evidence for. A god or other unexplainable force is something that no good scientific thinker should involve in his studies of reality. Evolution may be proven wrong eventually, despite all evidence in support of it, but that doesn't make religious answers correct, it means that scientists get to continue looking for another rational way of perceiving the world.
I used to be a Christian for a LONG time... but after discovering some serious surprising flaws in its doctrines and manner of perceiving the world, I fell into a agnosticism, then finally became an atheist. I was hardly a small-time Christian either. I studied plenty, and went on a few mission trips which I now regard with disgust, but see as being a necessary part of my life. I would agree though. Look at both sides. Science is not and should never be about accepting everything your science teacher tells you. Read about it, study it yourself and study different theories if you find it an interesting subject. I can guarantee that you will find plenty of sites that provide legitimate supportable scientific evidence disproving the claims made by creationists, and supporting the theory of evolution. i'm a scientist, which is pretty much an atheist. although i do not automatically dislike religious people, unlike my family (i was raised as a strict atheist.) i think it's great that people have faith, i just don't like it when people think that their religion is the only one that is possible. e.g. christian hating muslims, jew hating christians, buddhist hating jews. they treat it like a football team. at the end of the day, i just think taht people should have faith. not that i can talk though, because i am CERTAIN that there is no god.

I'm agnostic, I say there is a god. It doesn't care about us and probably had very little if nothing with creating the world as we know it today. As for an after-life I don't know or care, I believe that we'll find out sooner or later.

I'm atheist, I believe in science, and I believe there is a limit to how much science can explain at any given time.
At this time, science has come a long way, yet I believe it will eventually erode away religions.
Heck, before science proved the process of photosynthesis, the Christian idea of God creating all the plants on earth before he created the sun sounds kind of plausible. Before science concluded that we have light as the result of an emitter of energy, the same Christian idea that God created the sun after creating light and dark seems also quite plausible.
Now, I just read and laugh my head off.
He created all the planets and stars of the universe on one day, yet it took him about a fucking week to make just one? Give me a break, that sounds like a guy that doesn't have efficient time-planning procedures in place. You should always respect one's religious beliefs, however imaginary friends, delusional behaviour, a belief in a two thousand year old folk-lore should be treated by a professional.
