You are quite correct. The variablity of fashion in a postmodern, service-sector based culture is to provide for as many corners of the market as possible. I prefer older clothes: older clothes look better. If I had the means, I would be tromping around in a frockcoat from here. Say what you like, modern fashion cannot compare to timeless style.

Wow! I can't how many people can actually afford these designer duds. Personally I shop at H&M (rip off styles at low prices, yes I realize it's Europes equivalent to WalMart, or so I have been told by my Euro-friends), Broadway Fashion, and various other lower priced shops! I don't think you should have to wear expensive clothes to look good. As for style I tend to drift with a preppy crowd. Jeans/pants must never be straight legged or skinny(so happy skinny jeans are dying, although I had bought a pair in my judgement lapse). They should be flared or bootcut! Think 60's flare style. Pair that with a snug top and a snazzy scarf and your set ti hit the town for less than $100.00 CDN! Well, that's excluding shoes. When it comes to shoes go for the classics! I for one am not a fan of the new men wearing high heeled shoes trend.

Of course i'd enjoy wearing expensive clothes..But that doesnt mean you can't enjoy wearing clothes you wont find advertised in Vogue. Some of the time, i believe you are paying for the name. And for the majority of the population, urban outfitters is not cheap. Not everybody's daddy earns six figures. It'd take me about 33 hours of work at my after school job to buy one pair of Juicy Couture Jeans. More is never enough

I don't think H&M is our Wallmart equivilent.... I concider their jean prices to be extortion, especially concidering that a lot of them are ragged, worn, or leave half of your backside showing. Honestly, not a lot of them fit properly: all either far too tight or far too loose. No, George Asda is our Wallmart equivilent... it's owned by Wallmart.
Chaps wear highheels, now? Will the wonders ever cease! No, I'm happy with comfortable black or brown lace up leathers.
Price wise, thrift is prefered. Expencive goods last longer, certainly, and I'd not turn my nose up at a long lasting but expencive item, but the sort of good that you buy just to look good now is nonsence to me. Get me something timeless. I would not spend more than £40 on an item I did not expect to last for years in both quality and asthetics.

I don't, silly. Well, I have some H&M stuff: a nice zip up knitted fleece, two pairs of jeans (decent pairs, too) and a number of cheap, block colour t-shirts. I also quite like the pork pies hats they're selling presently. I own a grey one with a black ribbon, but in January (when the sales are on) I shall purchase a black one, also.

Wow lol I didn't realise how far out of it I was... I don't know half of those brands mentioned... other than American Eagle, Hollister, H&M, and Walmart (lol).
I love style, not fashion. The most stylish thing a person can wear is what they like...
Personally, I don't like mass-produced clothes, although I am guilty of buying a shirt or sweater at AE... lol I love skinny jeans (especially coloured) - and i did NOT follow everyone else lol I have always loved them! I love colourful things, and tight-fitting (lol shutup) clothes.
FAV KINDS OF TOPS: Cardigans, Polos, Blazers, T-Shirts (of course)' FAV KINDS OF PANTS: Skinny [Coloured] Jean, or tight flare pants

I myself have a weird dress sense though...can range from punky, as in me wearing docs, braces, fred perrys etc... to emoish-indie lol...or just some weird mixture of all of them lol. I don't give a shit about designer brands. I actually dislike wearing things with brand labels on them. I occasionally shop at Urban Outfitters, but mainly just for pants. I get most of my clothes from thrift or vintage stores. I feel it suits my personality better and I'm less likely to run into someone with the same shirt or pants.
