Getting past 'just friends'
Date: 2006/05/17 21:48 By: Boku Status:

OK, you meet a guy at a bar or club and you're talking, getting on etc. How do you get past the friendly stage into the lets-be-more-than-friends stage? Your thoughts?

I seem to stuck at the friends stage but maybe because most of the ~20 y/o guys I set my sights on are scared of people below 18 ... ... Or maybe I need to smile less and be more sultry Haha

What things do you do?

Actually..they should be scared.

At least in the United States it is unlawful for a person who is 18 years of age to be in a relationship with a minor.(someone below 18)

Buuuuuuut!!! Smile more!!! Not less >.<

Yup, AoC is 16 but there's a hunge mental gulf between 17 and 18 where people on either side view the other with suspicion/fascination. Hehe.

I think 16-18 can be a time where people emotionally at different levels.. have a bad experience with one and it may affect how you react to others... just an opinion, nothin more.

I don't think it's like 'straight people can have sex when they're 16, and not so straight people when they're 18 or whatever'... I think it has more to do with sodomy having a different age of consent. Well.. that's the case here anyway. Legal implications of sex and relationships was one of the topics we had to cover once in legal studies. Not exactly the best class I've ever had.

I doubt it. Considering the number of 16-year-olds who do drugs I'd say that's when the sex drive is nearly at its worst.

Actually Megan, I think you're right, but - quite sadly - it was used to apply across any gay act. Even though they've changed the rules for that there are still strange things its illegal to do.. like two men booking a hotel together for sex...

I've gone off topic again.. what was the original question?

Oh, getting past friends with kinda-20yo guys... My advice, just be yourself.. there's no point changing your character, cos eventually, it won't even be friends

In my state, QLD, it's illegal to wear slippers outside of a private residency. That's the dumbest law I can think of.

Well. As for the original question... being the good little school girl I am, I don't really have any real advice for you. Sorry. But I will advise you to follow squidged's advice and to be yourself.

So QLDers go to the shops barefoot. (-_-) Hehe.

*cough* Off-topic *cough*

Well, I didn't want this to turn into a be-yourself-and-believe-in-yourself thread But I think it's turning that way. Haha. I suppose no one's going to put their hand up and confess to spiking their "friend's" drink ...

I do not condone the act of drink-spiking nor do I believe it to be an efficient way of picking up, unless you are extremely ugly in which case you shouldn't even try picking up. Huhu
