Is anyone else ever in a group with your straight friends and you hear the words "That's gay" or "Your'e queer". What do you guys do? Does anyone else cringe a little inside?

Hey,
I used to cringe....i never do now.....I always let them know....its not kewl with me! If its something as simple as them making a comment like "thats gay" im usually will say something sarcastic like......and thats a bad thing????? and they get the point. I cant say that any of my straight friends have ever said....your queer....if they did....i would simply say....of course I am.....thats old news.

It doesn't bother me, I'm fine with being different! =P. Though, if someone says it, I'm usually like "Yea, because such and such has a sexuality". It doesn't matter, either way I'm fine. My friends (those who know) don't say it.

Even my gay friends say "That's Gay" and the sort.
It only really bothers me when people are actually calling me things like "Emo Faggot" and the sort. =[

wen they say it they're usually just using it in a sense of, "tht's not cool" as oppose to it actually being homosexual, i mean people say it's gay wen they've gotta stay n after school . . . .how could that be sexual? and a while ago it jus meant happy, i wudn't go tht deep into it.

Yeah. My brest friend Steph still says "that's gay!" or "that's so queer." I've just had to get used it. I know that she doesn't mean to use it in an offensive way.

it seems like its the cool thing to do where i am...*sigh* its difficult when ur not out cos like you have to make it look like it doesn't effect you. with the people ov told iv gotten them to try to stop doing it... but they still do when theyr around others. spose just have to separate them an look at the context they use it in. one i do hate though is when they call each other "fags" when they do sumink which to them looks 'gay'.

Pfft. Always. Honestly, people need to learn how to use a Thesaurus, instead of "that's gay," they could always say, "that's stupid/[insert synonym here]."

Yeah I find it really irritating when people do that. I'm not completely out yet to all my friends and when I hear them calling things "gay" it makes it feel that much harder to tell them. I think that no one has the right to use "gay" in a derogatory manner, not even members of the GLBT community, because it breeds hate and unacceptance. I hate when a big part of personality is used as a synonym for "stupid," "bad," and other negatives.
At least I have chicken.
