hmm... let's if i can remember

-it's cool, i ilke gay ppl as long as they dont hit on me. (joey-friend)
-ok... you got some weed? (adam-other friend)
-really? BS! your not! thats so cool! (jillian-girl i used to work with)
-i don't give a fuck dude! your still fuckin awsome! (army friend)
-i dont think its wrong, it is kinda funny though (other army friend)
-i could care less if your gay, your one of the best soldiers i had (plt. sergeant)
-most people here, including me, dont care, but you cant be in the army anymore, sorry! (my army commander)
-i like gay guys, except they take away all the hot guys! lol (some girl)
-woah! you didnt tell me that, its aright though, i like gay guys (ex-girlfriend)
-thats aright, gay people are our friends! lol (teacher)
-we have no problem with it, i think my older son is gay (neighbor?)
-what?! no way! really? thats cool, i have no problem with it (best friend)

as you can see, most people i know took it rather well, even people in the army! it's kinda stupid how they kicked me out, they say its not moral. apparently i can go and kill a bunch of kids, but i cant be gay?!... well, i cant argue with that logic!

I havn't come out yet.. But I can imagine my best girl friends reactions:

"Really? Oh that's cool.."

"Wow! I knew it.."

She'll probably be the first person I come out to.

I live in the boonies so I got a few mixed replies

"Oh...I guess that makes sense."
"Just because you dress nice and have nice skin doesn't mean you're gay. I mean, are you sure?"
"God dammit, not another one. You were hot too."
"So, umm, what is that you like about cocks?"
"So are you still gonna shower in the boys locker room or how does this work?"
"So when we made out at so-and-so's party I was kissing some other guy's dick?"
"I guess I should keep my back to the wall then, eh?" (said light-heartedly)
"That's perfect! Now I can take you shopping!"
"So do you pitch or do you catch...I'm just curious."
"...And?"

I left a letter detailing how I considered myself to be bi before leaving for school, being the anti-confrontational type, and my parents being the slightly mad religious type. Don't get me wrong, my parents are great, but they're definitely slightly mad.
Anyway. Neither of them have ever said anything about it. My mum didn't speak to me for two days, but now just acts like it never happened, and often says things to the opposite effect. My dad, (who fits at least partially in the gay stereotype as it is, and amusingly is known as 'the gay one' by people who don't know he's married), seems to quietly understand but is too scared of my mum to say it.

And now I've realised that in face I don't feel like I have any interest in girls at all, at least at the moment, and may have to go through the whole wretched process again, properly this time.

well , when i 'came out' , i had big troubles ,first of all my mother said:
mother:' you'd better go to a psychologist'
father: 'you what?!!'
my cousin: 'Really? , wow that's cool i have many gay friends too'
some of my friends(female): 'damn!' - 5 of them actually wanted to be my grilfriend'
, well after big troubles as i said , i just had to lie my parents saying i wasn't gay and blha blah , so that they could be calmed again , the time between i came out , and i lied to my parents saying i wans't gay was about 3 months , 3 months of hard battle . however my friends know i'm gay i didn't have to lie to them at least =/,

I've come out to a couple of people, but the only response I remember is from a female friend of mine over MSN.
"Aww, you poor muffin!"

Here's a short list of some of the things that you can expect to hear when you come out of the closet to your friends.

-"YAY! NOW I HAVE A GAY FRIEND!"
-"...oh."
-"How long have you been gay?"
-"So who do you like?"
-"Do you have a boyfriend?"

-"Nuh-uh! Shut up! You're kidding!" (Or some variation)
-"That's cool, I have a gay (insert family member like uncle or cousin)"
-"So you like boys?" (Respond with: "That's kind of what gay means...")
-"REALLY!? So what do you think of (insert name of fairly attractive friend of the same gender as you)?" (If you are presented with this kind of situation, I advise that you lie your head off and deny any attraction to this person)
-"What made you want to be gay?" (A proper response to this would be a violent physical paddle beating)
-"Why didn't you TELL ME?" (Answer with: "what am I doing right now?")
-"Do your parents know?" (if yes, expect "How do they feel?")
-"I don't have any problems with gay people, as long as they don't hit on me or anything." (respond with some hysterically funny comment about how you would never hit on someone like that person)
-"I LOVE GAY PEOPLE!" (go into anti-stereotype speech mode)
-"LET'S GO SHOPPING!!" (go into anti-stereotype speech mode and then go shopping)

Post edited by: BATMAN, at: 2006/03/05 20:45

mines was quite funny i had the first person i tell say "well duh" (Which is a phrase my english teacher uses alot thereby spoiling an amazing phrase for me grrr:@)
em i got one person ask me and i said no and then later when we were with outher friends that knew they said to me "Does heather know you know what" and she just turns round and say "Yeah she does" and im like "Thanks for believing me then"
After i told the whole school i got alot of "Can i be ur best friend cause ive always wanted a best friend" and then its like in french it was lyk one person would shout me and ask me "are you gay" and then i would say yes with the whole class looking at me and then the person next to them turns and says "are you gay" and im lyk "are you deaf?" this went on for about 3 days so you know....

I had one friend fall out with me but that was because i hadnt told him sooner and im like well sorry but you know kinda bearing my soul here and then i got alot alot of "I dont not like you, I have nothing against you. I just think being gay is wrong, but ill still talk to you" and im like "You know wat thanks you think im in essancce wrong yet you will remain to talk to me i feel so.....special" lol

and then i had one person who is lyk the most hardcore atheist i know turn round and spout off about how god made adam and eve not adam and steve

and a few "So you like boys?" to which i just walked away and now i have a hell of alot of "LETS GO SHOPPING" lol

sharing is fun

im sitting here laughin my head off at some of these responses

I thought, even if its been a while since anyone posted, that I would tell you what I heard when I came out.

Me: Sam, I'm gay.
Sam (my best friend): Oh... *small pause* You wanna cookie for that?

That's the weirdest thing I heard when I came out. Mostly, I heard, "are you sure? you've not been with a girl, or a guy, so how do you know?"

Yeah...
