I just have to comment because of the pansexual remarks.

Some people see it as good, and some bad; but pansexual basically means that you'll **** anyone. The most comical definition I've heard is "Pansexuals will do anything that moves and some things that don't."

There were a couple of conservative talk show hosts who got off before the Iraq war started by slamming gays and bis as pansexuals because "who _really_ couldn't be attracted to women?" Which I found disturbing, but anyway...

So it's a mixed term. Some people like it and some people don't.

I think being gay or bi or straight or anything is a bit different becasue you _don't_ want to screw everyone. XD You see someone you like and go after them. (At least in most cases. <_< >_>

See.....I'm curious about something.....Isn't homosexuality about being attracted to someone of the same gender? Well, if that's true, what would happen if you were to fall in love with someone UNDER THE IMPRESSION they were also gay, but in fact turned out to be a female? What would, or could you do? If you really think about it, one of two things could be true: either you're bisexual or it wasn't love in the first place. Just a thought...

As a Bi-sexual i also cringe when people label me as simply gay and not willing to admit or, or worse, start sayin that i really am straight and will eventually realise it. On the whole, i find most girls attractive, but when it comes to guys i am extremely picky with looks. It may be very shallow, but i basically have no attraction for over 90% of guys i see, i might aswell be straight when looking at them. However when i do see some guy who i think is really hot, the attraction is generally stronger than for girls. So its kind of all or nothing when it comes to guys for me. Again that may sound shallow but thats just the way it is for me. I'm not sayin its the same for all Bi-sexuals. As for promiscuity, all I can say is, I wish.

That made me think about pansexuality. I think a lot of people aren't aware of the difference between pansexual and bisexual people.

I was reading an article draft not too long ago by my best friend's step mother, who has been in a homosexual relationship with said friend's mother for over eight years. It was about sexual orientation, and about gays who had fallen at one point in their lives for a person of the opposite gender, despite being homosexual and otherwise completely unattracted to the opposite gender, and about straight people who had the same sort of thing but with the same gender. There's always going to be a gay man somewhere with a girlfriend, and she'll just be the only female he's ever been and ever going to be attracted to so it starts firing up questions. Is he gay? Or is he bi? Or is he pan? I think it's probably quite rare for a person to be exacty 100% straight, or 100% gay. Not impossible, just rare. But if a gay man not being a complete100% attracted to men it doesn't mean he's not gay.

I'm bisexual. I wouldn't say I'm equally attracted to both genders, mainly because I'm young and not quite sure yet, but I am bi. Definitely. And I'm only attracted to certain boys and certain girls, or I'd be in a lot of sticky situations with my friends.

Tarts are tarts. There are bisexual tarts, straight tarts and gay tarts but not all bi's are tarts, not all straight people are tarts and not all gays are tarts because then everyone in the world would be a tart... well except asexual people.... But I'm sure you get what I mean

Quoted for truth.
I've heard it said by someone in my psychology class that bisexuals are 'greedy', but in what way? Sure, we like both genders, but how does that make us greedy? Now if we went after EVERYONE we saw EVER, then I could understand that, but the fact is we don't...or at least the vast majority don't.
Now, forgive my ignorance, but what exactly IS Pansexuality? It's a term i've heard a few times, but I don't quite get it...
I'm here to make friends and talk to new people.
I have msn, so don't be too afraid to ask, just don't expect me to give it out straight away ^^

Wow Justin 20 it's like you read my mind thats exactly how i feel towards guys. Well i think that there's some people that say they're bi because they think they will be more accepted by society and in some cases it's true. I know a guy who told his whole family he was bi even though he's gay because that way they'll think he'll get married and have kids and stuff. I also hate that there are some gay people who dont like bi ppl, once when i was talkin to a guy and i told him i was bi he said "i don't like fake ppl" and he stopped talking to me and not just gay people theres also some straight girls who dont like me being bi. they either tell me to accept the truth that im gay and at the same time to be straight because i dont "act" gay and some of those same girls act bi for a week and have little girlfriends. I know that there really is bi girls but it's just sad that all these girls pretend to be just to get a guy, and its so stupid how straight guys think they can get a 3some if they go out with a bi girl, just cauz shes bi, it doesnt mean she'll do it.

I refer to myself as 'Bisexual' because whilst the majority of my sexual attractions/interests for the past 6 years or so have be directed at men I sometimes see women that interest me in that way too. I feel that it would often be easier to refer to myself as gay though as there definitely seems to be an attitude where people think that I’m either just not ready to properly come out or I’m just saying it to 'look cool'.

As for the whole 'tart' thing I think bisexuals get labeled as being really horney since their potential pool of partners is double most peoples and people dating bisexuals seem fear that they wont be able to keep them satisfied and they will stray. When you combine this with the straight mans fantasy of a couple of bi girls getting it on with anything that moves I think that a bi people gain a fearsome reputation for wanting sex. It’s all just stereotypes and urban legends so to speak. People just need to realize that just because someone can be attracted to both sexes doesn’t mean they are attracted to EVERY ONE of both sexes.

Bisexuality is a proven concept. There is something called the Sexuality Spectrum:

..Straight Gay
.. ...................... ..
.. .................. ..
.. ............... ..
.. .........
.. .......
.. .....
....
Bisexual

Very, very few people fall onto one of the verticies. Most people tend to be on the lines instead of the verticies, and bisexuals are just more in the middle of the sexuality spectrum than gays or straights. Some can be very close to the bisexuality verticy but have a preference. It's all very scientific, but no-one can ever be completely gay or straight. In a way, all human are bisexual, we just have our preferences according to our place on the sexuality specturm.

Anywho, that's my useless input...kudos to bisexuals!

its a mistake to assume that bisexuals are confused. ppl just think that because many lesbians and gays first come out as bi because THEY are the ones that are confused. (i thought i was bi. boy, was i wrong!)

but the native americans thought of bisexuals as a holy person; one that is able to love everybody. (just fyi: the native americans also considered transgendered ppl holy because they believed they were ppl with two spirits.) i wish everyone today could be as accepting as the native americans were.

So, bi's are cool and existant and awesome!

This is a really interesting subject and I believe that you have already mentioned some very important points. Sexuality, and sexual interest are very relative areas, and I believe tha they are still not very clear yet as studying them is very difficult. A very simple example would be the "is a child born gay/bi?"? Hard to tell, because we start developing our sexuality years after birth. Therefore, we can assume that genetics and social interactions are two possible determinative sources of the sexuality.

I for one can't tell at the moment that I have any interest in girls. I mean... I never think I did. Since I started to develop these kind of interests, I've dimly been attracted to guys... feeling which started to grow in time. It's difficult to tell whether things will change, whether my sexuality will develop to bisexuality in the future, or str8ness or wurever. I personally hope not... I'm content with how I am! I wouldn't change the fact that I'm gay anymore! Months ago I would've done anything for this... but now, I'm very happy with the way I am!

As for the subject "advantages of bisexuality"... There are advantages of course. Being able to jump over the barriers of "men" or "women" preferences is wonderful. But we should keep in mind that the discriminative factor still exists (like the examples mentioned above my post). And also... there are persons who might consider a bisexual person less faithful. I don't say this is a good reason, but the reticence exists.

Anyway... these are my thoughts.

I was going to write my own reply, but this one is pretty much exactly what I'd say. The only difference is that I never get labelled as 'gay'. For some reason, most people don't believe someone who listens to Bolt Thrower and loves footie and rugby can possibly be gay.
