I believe that homosexuality should be talked about in school. In the real world, it's a real thing. I'm part of it and you're part of it. Why shouldn't them be informed about the different types of people in this world. Why shouldn't they be told that there are different sexual orientations? It's wrong and it's like saying homosexuality doesn't exsist if it's not talked about. If a health teacher can't give at least a neutral point of view on it, then they shouldn't teach health, because health is supposed to inform people of how to take care of themselves, gain a higher self-esteem, and learn about other types of people as well. Students should learn about homosexuality. It's not wrong, after all...don't straight people love as well?

I strongly believe that there should be some sort of teaching given about Gay/Lesbian people, it would prevent a lot of problems, if gay and straight people could learn to be intergrated with each other at a young age that would be great, currently people dont know about "gays" so automatically it scares them, they arent comfortable with it..
Believe me, when i came out, the whole school knew about it within a week and to this day i still get funny looks, and people avoiding me because of it, some people are scared of it...

no unless the majority of kis in your school are gay then it would be fair but not that many kids are gay and most hate gays i just think it would just be another big struggle that the straights would win

Funny you should mention this, only today had i complained to the headmaster about the lack of "alternate sexual orientation" education..
In school we have NEVER learnt anything about homosexuals, which is the main cause of the amount of homophobics..

well i came out to pretty much to entire school when i was in yr 10, and i got no problems what so ever. a lot people actually respected me for coming out to everyone's faces etc. it was good, but i did get some verbal shite thrown at me evey now and then. one time i was in a french class and this yr 8 kid askd me if i was gay and i said yes. then he put up his hand and asked if he could move. that hurt me. i'm in college now and i'e come out to 3 of my new mates. so far, so good.

hey see we've never had anything to do with gays etc in my skool and i think its really unfair and then yesterday in se we had a video about love and relationships and that and its like a 3 hour video (we're watchin it over a few weeks) but there was only lyk a 2 minute thing about gays and stuff and i thought it was reli unfair. I came out about a yr ago and largely it was taken well apart frm a couple of guys but my year head was reli gd about it and put a stop to that and the guys were actually suspended which was kl but lyk some of ma teachers no ahm gay and they reli dont take me seriously and then my bio teacher is all lyk "Thats the way the race evolved to reproduce and continue the species" and that and i mean apart frm the video which is only shown in 5th yr (2nd lst yr b4 we leave) we only have this poxy little poster outside an english teachers class. Its really annoying and i mean i could have done with alot of help in like 1st year and that cause it was reli hard but instead i made stupid mistakes but now when i see a 1st year i know is gay i kinda take him under my wing so thats good but still skools should do more

I agree too. I can't wait for the day that teachers DON'T teach sex education based entirely on the straight point of view. Wouldn't it be great if they taught about all relationships equally, without any prejudice. There was a program on UK Teachers Channel by a gay rapper about the hate bullying in school against gays but it was shown at like 3.00 am so i sent an email to the channel producers. They said thet the dvd is available to teachers if they want it - but that's not the point it should have been sent to all schools so that all of us can see it. It also raised this point: Has anyone noticed that if you go to the corner shop the gay magazines are always in the porn section? Thats wrong - being gay is not pornographic at all. I guess this is how a lot of teachers view gay life too, maybe thats why they hardly ever say anything about gays when teaching except that it's wrong and a mortal sin and bollocks like that

I agree with Scrumpy, people should just except it and move on, its not like we chose this path. As far as my school goes, Lets just say coming out isin't the best thing to do.. we have a gay/straight alliance but no one really joined, i would like to but, some people in this world are just looking for an opportunity to say something. Im fine with keep my sexual orientation away from my social life in high school, Ive noticed even teachers change if they find out your gay. But yeah overall, Ive excepted it and expect other ppl to do the same^^

In my opinion schools should teach about homosexuality and not be afraid to teach about this, being Gay is not bad, it is just that people realize that they are attracted to the same sex. Being Gay is hard, because most families have that christian point of view that says that you should date the opposite sex and then teens views are different and then conflicting point of views.

I guess it shows how britain has a nation of closed minded idiots, well majority of kids anyway.
Im sure we have a few gay teachers hell, i enjoy flirting and testing my theories out, but i just think that if teachers, had to try and expand a pupils brain, by trying to explore homosexuality, it would go in one ear and out the other, and besides, do you think a school board would care?
