AMD, Intel products are usually more expensive, for the same amount of power.

Theres been a deeply rooted tendency for scales to sway on one particular side, at least for bursts of time.
When AMD hit the scene, they hit the ground running. Throughout the early 00's, AMD was sucking up all the accolades. Their processors offered efficiency and speed at a price-point Intel simply could not match.
However, the tables turned a good year and a half to two years ago. Since then, Intel has consistently offered the better mousetrap. They currently enjoy the luxury of being the general reference standard... but from what I hear, AMD has a few things up their sleeves in the upcoming future...
As for me, I have no loyalties either way. I've ran both in the past, and loved them equally.

I use a mac, so Intel. But I know AMD has been having issue recently keeping up with Intel and the many cores they have, so Intel seems a lot better right now. I'm sure it'll swing around again though and at different times, and for different applications, a different processor might be better.
I really drool over an octo-core Intel these days
