Conservative adults are protesting the inclusion of GLBT issues in a new Social Justice elective for Grade 12; which also includes information regarding race, ethnicity, and gender. Over 14,000 signatures have been gathered up to pressure the government from removing this component of the course.
THIS IS CANADA; not the U.S.A! We pride ourselves on diversity and multiculturalism. Canada is always at the forefront of supporting gay rights, whether through amendments to the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, or the legality of same-sex marriage.
What's worse is the reasoning behind these adults' protest. Making claims that they "do not want their children indoctrinated in the sexual orthodoxies of the gay movement" or that the government will add "homosexual material into the curriculum for “health and planning” classes from grades 7 to 10 and that parents may lose the right to withdraw children from the class".
SPREAD THIS MESSAGE! Supporters of equality and education; join together and sign the petition to reassure the Government of BC that people do endorse the addition of the Social Justice elective, and the constant review of the BC curriculum to ensure gay issues are taught where necessary.

I'm sorry I saw this really late, but I signed it! That's so stupid. Why the hell wouldn't they teach it? That's ridiculous. They teach about it in health class, so why not discuss the issues in a political class? People are such idiots. Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel that I can't take it, like my heart's going to cave in.
