I don't understand "gay pride" to be honest. How am I supposed to be proud about something I had no control over? Should I also have "male pride" or "white pride"?
It's just the things turned out; I don't think I should be proud or ashamed of it. I should be proud of my accomplishments, things that I had control over, not over the fact that I prefer the company of other guys.

my hometown doesn't hold a gay pride parade even though there is a gay village in the county (wilton manors). last year i was in boston during its annual pride parade and it looked like a big party 2 me. if the parade is just going to be a big party then just confine it to the predominantly gay neighborhoods of the city b/c if str8 ppl only see a party they will think gay pride is a joke.

While the more "flamming" gays have the right to wear body glitter as they see fit, and may appear in any wierd costume they wish (even if some do make them look like a cross between a stripper and a purple flamingo ), there are some negative effects when the stereotype is reinforced.
I guess the real issue is what gay pride parades are supposed to achieve. If there is only a sense of belonging, or beign who you want to be, they achieve this. I've never gone 2 a parade, but i've yet to read any post from someone on this forum or others that doesn't mention a sense of beloning, or whatever u wanna call it.
However if u wanna use it 2 improve the awarness of the hetero society towards us than we've messed up. It only enforces the stereotype, "that's so gay" is not gonna die if we keep this up. I would suggest that the pride parades stay as they are however if we could get the more masculine gays going to these events. yes there would still be purple flamingo strippers. But it would be blanced out with other people that the heteros could relate 2. So perhaps a hetero could look down on a pride parade and see people, not gays as we r usually portrayed on the media.
just remeber that "doing the same experiment over and expecting different results is the definition of insanity"-einstine
