Semi Coming Out Story :)

I just thought that i'd share me experiences on coming out .

I'm not out to my family, but I am to my best friends.......well, I was kinda forced back IN the closet by my parents .

Last year I told my parents that I was Bisexual because I did not want to come out as fully gay then. Note to everyone else: DON'T DO THIS if your actually gay! Well, my mom hugged me and said it was fine, and not to tell my dad. I was happy...........but then she stabbed me in the back, so to speak. She WASN'T ok with it, and told my dad. My dad is an ABSOLUTE homophobe, and he's also VERY closed-minded. So guess what? I was sent to a psychiatrist, who was completelt biased AGAINST homosexuality....so I was forced back in the closet. They didn't consider my feelings for one second . My parents think that I was cured, which angers me . Anyhow, so they are completely oblivious to my life.

2 Months ago, I was ready to come out to my friends because I just had that feeling that it would go well. We were going to have a bit of alcohol later as well, so I knew that it would be easier on me (I waited until I was 19 to drink by the way (legal in Canada where I live), and I drink sociably -- not to get drunk ). Well it was only my second time drinking, and I got slightly drunk because I didnt know my limit all that well , and that's when my friends asked me about girls (because I'm VERY chatty when i'm drunk, as they learned from the first time , and they knew that they could get answers from me then ).....and that's when I blurted it out. They were fine with it, and I was uberhugged by them ^__^.

The next day, NOTHING changed! My life went on like it always did. Being gay didn't matter to them at all, and that made me really happy .

A few weeks ago, I decided to email my BEST friends about it. I couldn't find the courage to tell them in person, so I emailed them out of cowardice. But they're fine with it too ^__^.

So yay! I just have 2 groups of people to tell now....my family, and then the world .

So that's it so far..........comments/concerns/advise is all welcome ^__^!

You've already told the world, technically.

Do you act vastly differently around your friends that know your gay to around your parents? If the answer is yes, then I suppose making sure they know your a gay man will help, but if not, if you act the same way and it's not femme or overtly gay, then they pretty much know your gay already, and what will telling them again achieve?

You should be happy with the way things are going now, especially if it's not a massive change in persona from one group to the next.

Coming out when your older and successful would be so much cooler, as they can't control your life then, and they can't say that you didn't do well because of your sexuality. Plus if you already told them I'd be very surprised if they didn't have lingering doubts about your sexuality.

I act the exact same around friends and family, I don't change who I am. I'm not feminine....just kinda immature at times I suppose . My friends had NO idea whatsoever .

You're right about coming out while older and financially stable......but sometimes I just want to BE with someone ya know!...

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it!
