Coming out in high school was very easy for me, and so far Ive actually suffered almost NO homophobic intolerance of any kind. Thats probably because Im a strong, social guy with friends from all across the spectrum, many who have said to me things like
"I never thought Id have a gay friend until I met you..."
or
"You know, I used to think gay people were weird..."
So thats all nice, but HERE's the problem. Im pretty much one of about 5 total gays who are out in my school, and it drives me crazy! I mean, whats the use of being out and proud and accepted when there is no one else to join you in the call to arms? I feel like a homosexual army of one. And the worst part is seeing those guys who I just KNOW are gay but wont take the plunge and come out. I realize people have different situations and for some coming out just isnt an option yet, but damn man, freakin hit me up on the down low and we can make something work, huh?
Is anyone out there feeling me, or what?

Loads of people are right there with you. But, of course, people have to come out in their own time, and not everyone's ready for it. Some people have homophobic families and nonsence like that. Now you may not need it, but I can assure you that less popular students will be worried about homophobic abuse: you could start a GSA and meet some chaps there.

Our school already has a GSA, and its full of the 298764897632 out and proud lesbian students, and like the whole 3 open gays. And no offense, but even the open gays at my school just arent my type. Hell, Im not even IN the GSA myself, because Im president of the Thespian Troupe...
But thank you for the suggestion. I appreciate it. I suppose its not such a bad thing to be the only one, for now.
