Exactly proves my point. Iran tries to acquire uranium to create nuclear power and the U.S. jumps down it's throat. I wonder who the U.S. proved it's nuclear power plants to?
Are you telling me the Mullahs running that theocratic regime in Iran deserves nuclear power? First of all, Russia, the United States, and many European countries have offered to supply Iran with uranium. Just as long as the Iranians don't set up systems to refine uranium.

But guess what? The same government ran by religious thugs and a president who has said "Israel should be wiped off the map" wants the capability to refine nuclear material. You want to trust them? Do you know what that authoritarian regime does to gays?

Here's a...visual image to help you understand the government of Iran a little bit better. This is what they do to homosexuals.

Invasion of Chechnya? Chechnyans are seperatists. Meaning they were alread part of the Russian section of the USSR, and that they started conflicts born of wanting to become independent. There was no invasion, much like China didn't 'invade' Tibet in recent months. Russia is more level headed then merely retaliating with nukes of their own. Would country's president do you think is stupid enough to participate in a nuclear war?
For the sake of debate lets leave the Chechnya argument because it is pointless and irrelevant to the thread. I will say though that you should not act as if Russia has done no wrong internationally...government ran by ex KGB thugs.

First, you obviously are not familiar withthe capabilities of Russian missile systems. Russia has a large mobile ICBM force hiding in the Caucuses and Siberian wilderness, they do not need authority from Moscow to fire them off. They do not need the authority of the president to launch. It was Yeltsin's (slightly alcohol induced) decisions that saved the day in 1995, and we were lucky.

Second, they will not hesitate one minute to fire off their nukes if they think they are being attacked, or have a good chance of being attacked. They have no disillusions, they know that their best time to launch their weapons is in a first strike.

I am telling you the facts. It's early warning systems are still from the 1980's, with many holes in them. They almost destroyed the world because of a mistake

Da, govoryu nemnogo po-Russkii. Vozmozhno ne sovershenyi, no ya lublyu Russkyu yazyiku.
Not bad not bad...where did you learn? Or did you get a little help with that? I see you didn't reply to the...last part, didn't think you would understand sorry

BravoLima wrote:
That is an even lovelier assumption. A flawed one at best. Like I previously mentioned, Russia is concerned with it's citizens, with improving conditions for it's citizens.
I am not arguing about Russia's government. I am telling you, the Russian system is flawed at best (highly dangerous at worst) and needs some work. The recent improvements in their military budget should help, but at present they are still relying on old Soviet early warning networks.

The U.S. is intent on policing the world, screwing up foreign countries with invasive military and dominating capitalist business that values the dollar of human life. The U.S., as the only 'super power' has been wonderful at creating conflicts in foreign countries, conflicts that spill over into deaths with other countries, armies with other nations that are puppeteered into following the U.S. over any cliff they jump off, spilling over of course into civilian casualties.
Of course, we both know that no country in the history of man kind has ever set up puppet states, especially not in the past century

Newsflash, when the US was active in creating puppet governments...I want you to tell me what other country was doing the same? Perhaps they spoke Russian too

Increasing the number of new terrorists, increasing the power of the U.S. as it has more of a contrived justification to do whatever the hell it wants.
Tell me, where are the numbers you're getting for "more terrorists"? Since when have terrorist recruitment offices been posting their numbers lol? And what country doesn't strive to increase it's own power?

Do I think the Iraq war was started over oil? Vozmozhno. Certainly, it was not started over the WMDs that Saddam so famously did not have. It certainly was not started to find the man that was notably in Afghanistan. It certainly was not to eliminate a dictator that was seemingly tolerated for oh so long.
Started over oil? Do you know where the US' future oil will come from? Read this

As far as Russias military capabilities, they are not as yesturday as you try to make out. The USSR was always up to date with it's military. The Russian Sukoy jets, for example, even without stealth capabilities, easily rival the capabilities of the mainstream U.S. jets.
Russian jets are something I am very familiar with. And it's not sukoy, its sukhoi. The Russian air force is nothing compared to the US air force...their pilots don't receive half the flight time, and they are still piggybacking of old soviet airframes, and still have yet to come up with a 5th gen fighter...while the US has had one flying for over a decade.

There are many more real threats, coming from countries that the U.S. has enflamed, then the imaginary boogie-man in the cupboard. If 9/11 and more particularly the bombings in London can say anything, it's that any threat is closer to home.

I don't think your tobacco chewing gunslinger of a 'leader' would want to end the world, but I certainly can fathom it being the ultimate consequence, even if the particular result of the end of the world is largely over the top, with great power comes great responsibility.

I'm not saying Putin (well...now Medvedev) will launch the nukes for no reason. Bush is not stupid, he may be exceedingly ignorant, but not dumb. He will not fire off nukes without a reason. But the Russians are traditionally more prone to start action, and their military doctrine specifically states that a first strike will benefit them if they are to be attacked.

Double Post

By the way, 'toi govorite' is incorrect. It's either 'voi govorite' or 'toi govorish'', depending on how chummy you want to be with me

But I'm sure you already knew that

Yes, stupid mistake, I always mess up verb conjugation when typing in the phonetic alphabet for some reason. I speak it much better

Why would the end of humanity be such a big deal? They eat off wood when they have perfectly good tummies.

You should always respect one's religious beliefs, however imaginary friends, delusional behaviour, a belief in a two thousand year old folk-lore should be treated by a professional.

If there's a nuclear war then no-one will survive. We couldn't evolve in the one generation necessary. And if it's global warming then maybe we'd survive but not in life as we know it. No electricty, internet or anything really. Lol, the internet is on a par with life on earth now

There's many more likeable ways for us to destroy ourselves than nuclear war, it's just the scary bogie-man in the closet.
