Underground Rap
Date: 2008/01/11 06:06 By: Davo7 Status:

I like at least one song in every genre that i know of. i especially like underground rap. The lyrics and beats are so much more complex and i personally think they are more intelligent with what they say. there not out to make a hit, they are out to give a message. Underground rappers tend to have a larger vocabulary than others. I especially love instrumentally based rap. rap with an actual instrument in the beat, ex. piano, violin, cello, trumpet. something noticeable notable underground rappers: jedi mind tricks, immortal technique, snowgoons, killah priest

Well unless you want to argue the pros and cons of underground rappers vs. mainstream rappers, perhaps this thread should bugger off out of the debates section?

By the by, mainstream rap has killed any wide credibility for underground rap, something that so many people will never experience. Meh.
You should always respect one's religious beliefs, however imaginary friends, delusional behaviour, a belief in a two thousand year old folk-lore should be treated by a professional.

It's true that a lot of people are never going to get into underground rap, simply because they've heard mainstream rap and got understandably disillusioned. Frankly, though, I think those people are missing out; it's a shame. Although it's not by favourite genre, by far, I definitely dig a little bit. Dead Prez, for example, have got to be one of my favourite groups of all time.
