sexuality - does it affect music taste?
Date: 2008/05/10 10:38 By: samgay99 Status:

I was wondering earlier...
does it?

Put it this way...

3 years ago, I was straight and I listened to:
Panic! At the Disco
Taking Back Sunday
Fall Out Boy

(all boys, no girls)

NOW, I'm gay and it's:
Natasha Bedingfield
Kate Nash
Britney Spears
Alicia Keys
Gwen Stefani

(all girls!)

SO, I want to know your opinion on the matter...

Also, check out my profile and chat to me if you like

umm hmm
i listen to both =]

music taste just expands and matures, i doubt realizing that you're gay has much to do with it

Not to my knowledge, it doesn't really.

Lol.
I'm kinda the opposite of you.
I used to be all Britney Spears and Mariah Carey obsessed.
Now I listen to a whole bunch of shizz.

Natasha Bedingfield is a great singer! woo for "pocket full of sunshine"
Nothing to be ashamed about liking her

I listen to everything from technical hardcore/death metal and alternative, to opera music so I would say that sexuality has nothing to do with music taste

Maybe it affects your openess to listening to a variety of music, not so much the music you listen to.

Maybe you're trying to live up to the expectations of others and what they perceive to be a 'gay' person and by doing so you are perpetuating stereotypes to fit in.

But iuno, my music taste hasn't changed.

well recently i've been listening to a wider variety of stuff but thats purely because my mates have lent me albums and sent me songs, nothing to do with my sexuality lol

I've been told that my music collection is very gay. But I've always listened to some of the artsists I have like Britney and S Club. But I usualy pick up anything I like. I have things from Kate Liley Allen to Flo Rida. So it might do it might not.

Aye right.

I listen to some stuff that would be considered not an ounce gay. Right now I'm listening to some trippy trancy shit from the 1997 edition of Duke Nukem for the PSX. I was listening to Kylie at the age of 10, as well. Simply put my music collection is broad and varied.

I agree what SimplySimon says. I think along with that, a lot of gay people feel the need to act camp as well because of what their subconscious tells them. I don't act very camp at all. I just act like me. Too many people forgetting that these days.
