i happen to be in the middle of a banning of a friend of mine ( no names will be mentioned) basically the ban happen coz of this i was there and saw it myself: there were no mods present at the time, and someone started typing in CAPS, then a few others joined in and b4 long everyone was breaking the NO CAP RULE, even i joined in like a dumb "sheep" and my friend got his back up when 2 people in the chat said STOP WRITING IN CAPS, and you don't say that to kids coz were not gonna respond specially when those 2 are peers ( 14 and 15) ,and who likes being told by your peers to shut up? not me then "those" 2 guys ( names withheld, but they no who they are) ratted on, as far as i no just the one person, they even bragged about saying they just sent in the "log" of the chat..this raises important issues now , issue 1.. by there bragging action to rat out a fellow member, wud we ever trust them again and as for the central harmony in the chat will this not be eroded now because of certain people u wudnt say certain things while there in the chat room with u? i can only presume the back chatting in private about these "two", one of them even said "nobody likes me anyway", and i had to wonder why? well he made that quite obvious.. now the thing im concerned about is that this particular person that was "picked" on is suicidal and is deeply depressed and cries a lot and this is coz of his family and what happen to them ..i have spent many hours ( as well as others) trying to get him to not do anything stupid and his mental state is far from normal at the moment every day for him is like dangling from a rope.. one step away.. sure he broke the rule so did about 5 others including myself, im not saying he was targeted but it sure looked that way, when i questioned the admin ( i had full authority ) as to why he was banned he said its none of my business.. fair enough .. but i was trying to help my friend as he didn't have a clue why he was banned .. he never received an email even tho the admin says he sent it.. quite possible..but he never got it till i urged the admin to "resend" it was only then my friend understood why he was banned.when i brought to the admins attention his metal state he replied " i dont care about that ( him being suicidle).. he broke a rule" omg since when did a rule on a chat room thats not even real life become more important then a life?????????? i was stunned that an admin.. let a lone a human cud say that about another , person and my respect for that admin will remain at a big fat ZERO probably for ever. this isnt a perfect situation, sure what situation is perfect?? but when the mods or admins are not present someone always breaks the rule for example last nite some pervert came in and repeated 4000 times CAMSEX? i mean gosh isn't that worse then someone saying CAPS CAPS CAPS?? and hardly anyone said a word or they chose to ignore him but that is just one example.. when the cats away the mice do play..ok rules are rules and everything must have rules and im not saying there shud be exceptions.. but what happen to the word FAIRNESS.. and HELP.. i mean forums are about helping and ADVICE is it not?? why not the admins are they just here to enforce the RULES? or help with advice? maybe i have the wrong view of GYC maybe i thought this place is different from other chats... and maybe im wrong..?

My first thought was to delete this post simply because it is a violation of terms itself. But instead, I will both correct and answer it.
Firstly, you can throw my name in there if you want to, I don't mind. But never did I say "I don't care, he broke a rule". If you intend to make direct quotes, please make DIRECT quotes and don't alter words to make it sound like something happened that indeed, did not.
Here's a little FYI... When a user account is banned, the SYSTEM automatically sends an email to the user with the explanation provided by the Administrator. The email is sent to the email address that is registered with your TheGYC profile (meaning the one you entered when you signed up). This is an AUTOMATIC PROCCESS, so if your email address is incorrect in the system, it is because YOU did not insert it correctly. Elsewise, if you did not recieve it, then perhapos you should check your junk mail folder, or make sure that info@thegyc.com is a trusted address in your spam filter.

I am a human being, I work for TheGYC; a non-profit organization, I am a Wiccan, and above all else, I am an Emergency Medical Technician. My entire life is dedicated to helping others. For you to suggest that I don't give a damn is blasphemy! Perhaps before you claim this, you need to corect yourself on what I said, exactly, rather than making it sound like I don't care at all. I'm not going to further dignify this with more of a response because I am already disgusted with this accusation.
What I said, in actuality, was that I'm not going to hold his rights above anyone elses, and that he would be treated equally just like everyone else. I'm not going to give him special treatment due to suicidal tendancies. Dude, I'm an EMT, I see suicidal people every single bloody day. They are treated like everyone else. Period.
Just because he wants to take his own life, you want me to allow him to do whatever he wants in the chatroom, infringing on other people's rights? Being rude to other users? Telling Administration, "i say when they read these logs, they can read this, *FUUUUCK YOOOOOU*"
That doesn't sound like a patient to me, it sounds like a troublemaker. I am not going to have any sympathy for someone who decides to abuse what has been given to him. Participation is a privilege and a gift, not a right. However, if someone is going to make other users uncomfortable, and then wants special treatment, then we have the right to refuse participation to anyone.

Due to the Security and Privacy Policy, I can only talk to two people about someone's account. Either the person THEMSELF or their PARENTS. Being that you are neither, you have no right to be told anything about someone else's account. You have the right to ask, sure, but I will not give you any information.

Please look at this following statement with an open mind, and not bias because the person in question is your friend. Even if he needs help, when he presents himself the way he did, why are we going to allow the security of other users in the chatroom come into question just to help one person who is acting like they don't want help? In order for us to help someone, they must WANT the help.
"CAPS CAPS CAPS" is not all that he said, he also was directly insulting other users, he was directly insulting Administration, and he was causing a mess. If you are going to tell a story, please include all of it, not just the points that make you and yours sound like the victim, and everyone else sound like the bad guys. In truth, that's not how it was at all.
I applaud you for standing up for your friend. I applaud you for standing up for your beliefs, and for what is right. However, please choose the correct means to deal with the situation. Speading multiple posts of "hate mail" on our forums is not the way to do it. If you have a problem, I would gladly set up a meeting between Shaun (other Manager), Hamish (site owner), and myself and invite you along and let you speak with all of us about it. However, we will not support complaints that are made publically and without sufficient evidence to fuel your cause.

To say this "friend of yours would kill himself is certifiably rediculous . Obviously the admin didn't think that you nor your other friend was serious probably concluding that you were making up a slanderous excuse for your friend. I was not present at these most unfortunate events but if you brake more than one rule then it think he should be taught a lesson because life has rules and if you don't follow them you get in more serious trouble than being banned from an online chat room. I do understand that as a friend it is your duty to stick up for him and i applaud you for it. But i do agree with the moderator his explanation of things fits together better. Well i do hope your friend gets over this, i cant imagine some one with a tampered state of mind that they would join this site.
