Last night I watched Anastasia, and I would have to say that's a really nice musical, The music composition was quite remarkable. I hadn't seen it in a few years, and it was nice actually knowing what everything meant.

pretty much my favorite musical of all time is THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW I loved the music the first time I saw it, even tho I didn't really get it at first (I was like 11), but now everything makes sense. xD
Other favorites that people have mentioned include:
- RENT
- Avenue Q (saw it in London :]]] )
- Wicked (saw it at the Pantages)
- Les Misérables
- and (to an extent) West Side Story (has 2b stage, not movie!)
Some others people didn't mention:
- the BUFFY the VAMPIRE SLAYER musical episode!: "Once More With Feeling"...:]]]]]
- Jesus Christ Superstar (I love it, aren't a such a good Jew? xD)
- Chess
As an honorable mention: TOMMY, by The Who. My favorite-est album of all time, ever! Not really a musical, but a concept album that was made into a shitty musical...xD
...There are prolly lots more...but these are all I can think of now.... I lurves to chat on MSN with ppls: Add me and chat with me! ~*. alex@live.alexr.net .*~

I love Rent (I actually cried), Chicago, and Hairspray. I go and see a show every couple of years, but I haven't seen one in a while

OMG! Have none of you ever seen or read the Threepenny Opera? Mother Courage and Her Children?
Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill were fantastic!
come on out, you gutter lily, you! Show your legs and let's all see how pretty! I'm always glad to admire beauty. They're the thickest ankles in the city!
I love Brecht!

Now.. it's not simple!!! I think that my favourites are The Sound of Music and Cats, the first for the song "do-re-mi" and the second for the whole thing. Also The Phantom of the Opera is great!!! About disney I'm definitely mad for The little mermaid... Also now tha song "part of your world" gives me shivers...

May I just say that with our opening night this thursday. I, quite frankly, would LOVE to kill the writers of "Fiddler on the Roof" Oy! If I have to sing "Tradition" on more time.... lol
I would have to say that my favorite show would have to be RENT. I know, I know its cliche. But never-the-less I first heard it in 8th grade and saw it my freshman year with my mom. I've seen lots of shows, but no show keeps me enamored like RENT.
I'll be sad to see it leave Broadway in June...... I, for one, am for the ruination of innocence....

OK nothing beats Chicago... its is the raciest, raunchyest and foottappinlgy best musical of all time. Plus its funny lol. That said, Wicked comes a close second, then West Side Story (I always cry at the end no matter how many times ive seen it)

Probably HAIR. I f***ing love that movie!! Everything about it, the music was great, the acting was good (and the acting is the latter part of important things in a musical), it was well-made and displayed the issues facing the 60's very well and it was a joy to watch!! MOULIN ROUGE is pretty high up there too.

For me it's Caberet, Liza Minneli was great in it and Joel Grey's devilishly androgynous performance is definetely one which embeds itself in your memory. The music's raunchy and gutsy, the perfect backdrop for intoxication and debauchery, surely that's more fun than The Sound of Music?
...although I do love My Favourite Things.
Dancer in the Dark is my second choice,it's a great, heart wrenching film and the music's by Bjork. Win-win situation

Well.... where does one begin. I'm a major nerd for musicals so lets start from the top:
At the moment, i'll have to say i love wicked the most at present. Because i recently went to go and see it with my friend Kelly. I can NEVER afford to go and see musicals, so seing it with one of my closest friends was amazing. I really enjoyed the CLEVERness of the lyrics, especially during a song called 'No Good Deed', still gives me chills. However i think it's VERY commercial, unlike the musical which beat Wicked to win the Tony for best musical, Avenue Q. This is the only other show ive seen in London (i can usually only afford to see shows on tour), I really enjoyed avenue q awell. But it simply isnt the same spectical as wicked. Nobody melts, nor do they fly or turn into tin-men. I think avenue q has ALOT of heart though, plus it is actual LOL funny. I still can't listen to Schadenfreude without smiling.
Other musicals i have to note that i listen to alot are: Phantom of the Opera (DUH!)
Mary Poppins, The OLC, rather than the movie. I love the new songs not on the Julie Andrews film, especially 'Anything can happen'.
I Love You Because, is a small show which was Off Broadway for a period of time. It features Stephany D'abruzzo (who was also in avenue q), i like the show for the same reasons as avenue q
I grew up listening to ALW musicals, Especially Cats and Joseph, I can very happily listen to ANY of his stuff, especially if it's been sung by John Barrowman.
Sorry about the length of this post, i just like talking about musicals xD - Jay -
