well, that's hard. because i love basically every musical.

meet me in st. louis, the wizard of oz, the pajama game, the sound of music, the phantom of the opera, hairspray, rent, chicago, cabaret, and moulin rouge.

and since it's been mentioned, the disney musicals i love are beauty and the beast, the little mermaid, and aladin is my favorite. our school did a stage version of it last year (i was jafar because i'm just cool like that)

wicked is amazing. i loved it so much, and i especailly loved the costumes. it was all great.

but i have to say the best i've ever seen was les miserables. it is sooo good. the songs are beautiful and the story is beautiful and it was just the most amazing thing i've ever seen. and i've see phantom of the opera on broadway, i still think les miserbles was even better.

then there's the rocky horror picture show, of course.

and i think that the south park movie counts as a musical, and it is really funny and actually really smart. i love it.

and another great, great musical is john cameron mitchel's hedwig and the angry inch it's a not very well known indie film about a guy from communist east berlin who got a sex change, came to america and started a rock band. what's not to love?

Going to London this December to see some musicals on West End I'm thinking of watching Wicked for sure, Avenue Q most likely, and maybe Les Miserables, not sure on that one.

It's going to be a blast Too bad I'm going to be alone in London during Christmas though

My absolute favourite is RENT with BARE as a close second. Other than those... A Chorus Line, Little Shop of Horrors, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, AIDA, Avenue Q, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. I've also recently become obsessed with Zanna, Don't!

As for why...
RENT- I just feel that it has a lot of important messages in it, and of course the music is amazing. And any Broadway musical with the guts to use a line like "To faggots, lezzies, dykes, crossdressers too!" gets mega points in my book.
BARE- It has a lot of emotion, there are so many times that I cry in it. I think that it does a good job of portraying teenagers accurately and I can really relate to Jason... That's probably not a good thing though.
ACL- The music just kicks ass kay?
LSoH- It's funny, and it makes fun of dentists ^^ I also have the recording with Anthony Rapp so that may influence why I like it so much.
Hedwig- Hedwig is just such a complex character... I don't really know what it is about this musical but at the end I just have this feeling of 'wow'.
AIDA- Again, good music, great story line.
Ave. Q- Puppets! And hilarious songs.
Forum- It's Sondheim, need I say more?
Zanna, Don't!- The music is upbeat and fun and I really love the concept (it takes place in an alternate universe where everyone is gay and two teenagers come out as being straight). Oh! and it has Jai Rodriguez, anywhere he goes, awesome follows.
When the days drag on for years but the years fly past, live every day like your last.- Feeling Electric

Lets see, well for movies it would have to be a tie between West Side Story (that was soooo amazing) and My Fair Lady and for actual play musicals i would have to say another tie between Oliver, Wicked, and the Light in the Piazza.
