“My Identity”
Why does it have to be As if my identity is Some kind of nuclear property? Like if someone knows Then I’ll be found out; Criticize As if I’m unstable, Abnormal For who I am is Not accepted By those I know & love For once I’m found out I’m cast out It’s not like I ever judged you For being you So why should you be Judging me? For who I am & what I am Is still the same it use to be I’m just showing you another Side to my identity ‘cause all along it was barely me For what you saw was only part of me Partially killing me ‘cause I was too afraid to State my true identity But here I stand & wait For the moment Where it doesn’t matter If your gay or straight Where I can live Out my identity With a certainty That I’ll be judge equally "Live everyday as a new day"
