Americas Economy/Internation view on the States

Well if most don't know this; The U.S. is going to go into (if not already in) a recession. Gas; which is the most important thing in America has skyrocketed which means food, travel, and our standard of living... atleast in California is way more than it has before. My father (who is a really politial Conservative Republican) says that the whole world wants this to happen because the American standard is way above say the U.K. (Which my Welsh neighbor talked to me about yesterday), Australia, the whole EU,etc...
Why does the world want America to fall; what because of Bush? Its not like we all like him; my dad hates him with a passion so do most of the people around here (Except the few wannabe Redneck Hillbilles who don't know squat and will follow anything with a faux texan accent ). It seems like just a decade ago no one thought about anything; the economy was booming and amazing and now its screwed up. Gas is 4 dollars a gallon and hundreds are losing jobs everyday. The funding for schools in Califonia are being cut even though we're the wealthiest state. People are stockpiling food and moving to Oregon, Arizona, Nevada, Texas and all the other states trying (but not getting away from) the damage from Corrupt Politicians getting money from foreigners to fu*k over there own people. WHY DOES THIS HAVE TO HAPPEN!!!
I feel like I'm gonna have to give up a carreer I want, to the sort of thing my dad spent 27 years doing (Oil and Energy). I'm gonna spin into some circle of working long hours, telling people what to do, having to fire other people, and listening to some bigwig who is probably lineing his pockets with money to handle his own needs while in the process messing up everyone elses.
Whats international & national folks opinion of crumbling America?
Do you think it can be fixed?
Are Internationals dealing with incresed prices?
