Idk... Technically it doesnt matter what the gap is. Personally, tho, I wouldnt date anyone older than me or anyone more than 2 years younger. (Its not so much a moral thing... i mean, im gay, and to a christian thats as immoral as it gets, but im just not attracted to ppl that are too much younger than me. I mean, there are a couple of cute freshmen in my school, but nothing special.) Pedophiles are perfect scapegoats for the 'holier-than-thou' that hate or want to otherwise stem homosexuality without admitting it as it would be the political equivalent to being kicked in the balls by a kangaroo.
The question of age gap is eventually futile. It's like asking, 'Should people with high IQs be able to have sexual relationships with people with low IQs?'
All that matters is what the individual wants. Saying that a 16yo is compatible with a 13yo, yet a 18yo is not is just silly; plus it's hugely disempowering to youths, who are the only ones that really can make the decision at the end of the day, no matter how much governmental/parental forces try to oppose the decision. You should always respect one's religious beliefs, however imaginary friends, delusional behaviour, a belief in a two thousand year old folk-lore should be treated by a professional.

It's really all about both maturity and intelligence. Being 13, I know when I say that there a vast variety in these two categories with every age group. Hell, I've noticed that I'm more mature than many college students. if a person knows about teh risks, they should be able to be with whomever they want. (However I do agree that being with an old man usually means trouble) My limit would be a 15 year gap. Something witty goes here.

I can't see any problems with age gaps in relationships. Even though it may sound cheesy love has no boundaries. My aunt is 50 and her girlfirend is about 24, and theres nothing wrong with it. They love and care for each other, but it doesn't help that my aunt has a 22 year old daughter which must make it akward for her.
And one of my friends, her dad is about 40 and his boyfirend is somewhere near 65, and it doesn't change anything in their relationship.
As long as two people love each other, age wont matter at all...

Personally Physical age doesn't really count for much in my book, iv dated guys alot older than me. Emotional and Mental age is completely different though, im mature for my age so i prefer guys same age and above to about 26/27, im 16, 17 in april. I suppose it's personal preferance. I wouldn't ever date someone more than 6 Months younger, regardless of how mature they are. www.thegyc.com/supastar

Kevb is my boyfriend and we are as happy as can be, age is just a number that people read into to much, we should be able to be with some who likes us for us

I think that like half the people on here that age is just a number. Agreed. You have to be careful and half the time quite secretive?? but if you both love each other age should not come between it

I think that if you truly love someone and your motives are pure then age doesn't really matter. At the same time though seems like there's a lot of older people out there that jus wanna perv on someone young and that seems really creepy.

I don't think people should be penalized for going out with someone older/younger than they are simply because we do not understand their desires. I personally do not understand why you would be attracted to someone 5-10 years younger or older than yourself, yet many people would not understand why I would be attracted to members of the same sex and feel that I should be penalized for their lack of understanding. As long as everything in their relationship in consensual I don't see a problem. If you are quoting my words and disagreeing with them , then you sir are an idiot!

The age issue is a big one. Large age gaps are NOT GOOD--at all. Sure, there are times when it works (although I admit I have never seen one, gay or straight), but age difference is a good indication that there's something wrong with somebody.
Think about it. Why would a much older man want to date someone who is so less mature, less settled, less able to fend for himself in the world? It's typically a sign of an emotional developmental problem (This I have seen in both gay and straight relationships numerous times).
Likewise, why would a much younger guy want to date the older man? To some degree, a heightened level of maturity might be there. But you have to be careful that the younger man isn't trying to "act grown up."
Age CAN be just a number, but it's highly unlikely. I'm not saying it's impossible; I'm saying it's something to watch out for.
As for the age of consent laws, I barely see the difference between an 18-year-old having sex with the 60-year-old and the 16-year-old having sex with him. Both are likely to be screwed up situations.

I think 3 or 4 years is enough, but it seems to be more 'wrong' when you're young.. for some reason!
Like some people's parents are 5 years apart and nobody thinks much of it, but if a 21yr old was dating a 16yr old, there would be uproar!
I think it depends on your place within the "Youth/Middleage/Old" category

Listen sweety, there is no such thing as ''age'' when it comes to relationships.
I know because; the age gap between my lover and I is alot more than that!!! (2 years is nothing) unless he's into things that you are not ready for...(that could be anything you are not confortable with...so don't rush)

You can't debate whether age gaps are good or bad--the value of any relationship is totally subjective to the people in it. If a 13-year-old wants to date a 25-year-old, so be it. I don't care. It really puzzles me that gay people are here arguing that certain relationships are immoral because the law forbids them. I mean, don't you know your history? Gay sex among consenting adults was officially recognised as immoral AND illegal by most western governments until the '70s. We can't let the state determine our views regarding sex. Remember, we're supposed to be the enlightened ones when it comes to sex--we've had to liberate ourselves.

Hm, this one can sometimes be a tough one. I mean, i actually preffer older women as they aren't like the young ones, they're settled. And know what they want to do with their life. As gross as it sounds. But to be honest, i don't think it should matter, as long as you both love each other. I mean, look at Ellen DeGeneres and Portia...

i guess that the older you get, the less the age gaps in a relationship matter. like im 15 and what if i went out with a 18 year-old guy. first of all that would be hard...and then people would be like. "damn, WTH." [or say something offensive] what if i went out with a guy thats 14. ok. no big deal right? but around my age group, its like a big "WTF?! you must be desperate". a step forward, a step backwards, people will always think different. but i say, if you're with someone and u love them, forget gaps
