I've been brought up in a Catholic family, and attend church.. but only really because I'm expected to.
I certainly don't consider myself Catholic, as I have obviously hate aspects of the Catholic church (and other Christian churches).
I suppose I'm agnostic just now.

At this time, I'm a Lutheran. But I'm thinking about becoming a Buddhist because it actually makes sense.
I actually there was a way Buddhism and my current religion combined. That would be cool.

I must say, that a lot of what people think and say about christianity, is just simply.. saddening. I look through these posts and I just feel bad reading them. about how many of us feel that because of the church we choose to stop believing. Why should we let how people treat us in the church affect our decisions, and our relationship with Christ? It surely won't stop our relationships with anyone. So, why should it stop our relationship with God? I am a strong Christian (as for denomination, I don't claim any particular one, just, simple follower of Christ) I don't like when people force their religion on anyone, and I surely don't agree with it. I choose to share my beliefs, and my experiences with people, and let them know, but after that, I believe that it is up to each person individually to make a decision, not be forced to follow what I believe. I can only live my life in accordance with my faith, and perhaps, if people see it, they may see more to Christianity than people flinging bibles around, or condemning every sin that has been committed by people outside the church. Everyone sins. EVERYONE. I sin, the pope sins, pastors and priests sin, it is just a fact, human beings sin. A passage from the bible says that before looking at other people's faults, you should first take care of your own. (of course this is not word for word. ~Matthew 7:3) I see my homosexuality as my own affair, and if people are pointing it out, Then they are the ones that are trying to keep eyes away from them. I don't think we should allow people to affect us so. Nor the problems in the church. because, maybe if one church does not sound right to you, Read what is in the bible, and figure it out for yourself. One thing I was taught was to never take God's word for granted, make sure that whatever someone is telling you is right. Look it up, and challenge their beliefs, should they chalenge yours. Well, anyways.. just my thoughts..

thats how I see being a Catholic. Living in England, the predominant religion is Church of England (protestant) and actually Catholicism varies quite a bit in terms of practice from Anglicanism, and other protestant churches.
Also being an Irish Catholic, there is a huge amount of culture involved. Catholic parents tend to send their children to Catholic Schools and do all the sacraments thing more (baptism, first holy communion, confirmation) and in a far more elaborate, celebratory way.
There is also sense of their being a Catholic community, you tend to know all the catholics (especially the Irish) living in your area.
So to me its as much about the culture involved than the religion. I always say if your born a catholic you'll never get away!! hehe

I was raised a Moravian, but I converted to Zen Buddhism. I never really believed alot of what the Bible said. I also had (and still have) this thing against believing in things without evidence, and I didn't like what I considered meaningless, habitual church services. I also lost most of my faith in the existence of a diety God. Ironically though, I accidently developed a much better understanding of God, but with a much different view of what God is, through Buddhism. "Try not. Do or do not, there is no try."

I don't really have a religion, there are so many interesting faiths out there and i can't say if any of them are true or false, as we can't prove anything. So i just choose to live my life normal..... †Trenton† xxx

Apathetic... Agnostic... Atheist... something that involves believing in nothing. Which sounds sad but really makes you want to enjoy life more

I was raised CATHOLIC and went to church every Sunday but i always hated it, it never made sense to me, anything that the bible claimed happened. Even at school when teachers would say its all symbollic I still found it hard to believe that a book that was supposidly created well over 2000 years ago could use so many metaphors and be so crammed full of symbollism.
My main problem with the bible is that theres no evidence, people say that the stories are evidence but who wrote them? when did they write them? why did they write them? We are just supposed to say "oh its in the bible I must listen and i must do what im told" which i just cant do.
In my opinion the bible was probably a scam created thousands of years ago, somebody wrote a book claiming all of these things and people believed them because if they didnt follow the bible and its teachings then they were going to be punished one way or another...and its just stuck, the belief became so strong that nobody would challenge it.
On a FINAL note i have to point out that im not a catholic hater im AGAINST ALL ORGANISED RELIGION, i believe it is the cause of some of the worlds most serious problems. Religion is like football/soccer, there are different teams with different opinions and all want to beat the other. It encourages segregation and rivalry and the sooner it is abolished the better.

im a self loathing catholic... i hate how hypocritical some of them can be... not saying they all are... they preach against sexual sins like homosexuality yet their preists were molesting altar boys for over 50 years. i think its kind of funny. most of the catholics i know dont like it and arent that in to it like alot of the lutherans and mormons and protestants i know. If God didn't intend for us to eat the weak, then why did he make them so tasty?

I'm definately atheist or not sure about God's omnipresence. With his omnipotence, surely he could've stopped 9/11 and 7/7 from happening. Sugababes are better than Girls Aloud

I-like many people here it seems-am a Christian. I was raised in a Baptist church but I also have some Lutheran and Evangeilism in my background. I am one of the Christians who doesn't believe that God hates homosexuals or that homosexuality is a sin. I belive that all people who belive in God regardless of their sexual orientation is accepted into heaven. In response to juuble-wuuble God is omnipresent but he gave us free-will; we do with are lives what we will. And God doesn't interfere. He's not our monkey we can't make him do whatever we want/just blame everything on him because he didn't stop 9/11 or whatever. Some people make stupid choses it's not God's fault they make them. God bless. With love, Dee.
