Cool free.

The Iranians released the captured sailors for "Easter". Can you believe that? Looks like the Iranians got everything they wanted, and Blair is just making it worse by calling the Iranians a "great and mighty" people.

I don't see the problem with Blair calling them mighty, because they actually are. It's just that those who are more mighty are so bent on decreasing others' might instead of heightening their own that they won't recognize their might. I think we should be more bent on getting more "power to the people", so that no one would have a need to feel superior to anyone else... Sadly the world is a cynical place, and there's no real way to solve the problems we have.

They used to be mighty, now they're living in the shadow of their Persian ancestors...

Just got really annoyed just now after reading a leaflet dropped through my door from the British National Party nazi nasties, and since the local elections are comin up for most places in england I came to the conclusion this would be a current event and just wanted to say if you live in england and are old enough to vote...then vote...even if you dont agree with the political parties vote to keep the BNP at bay...the alternative is free pink triangles for all...nazis are sooooo last century...the enemy of my enemy is my friend...so vote for somebody with half a brain cell even if it means conforming to whoever normally gets in...don't not vote out of protest or apathy...cos seriously even though they've been trying to brighten their media image they'd still lock us all up given half a chance. Vote!!

Alexander the Great was Mycenaean, not Persian, in fact he defeated the Persians which is why he is so famous...

Doesn't really matter though... He made an impact, so it isn't really necessary to know where he was from... Just like Hitler who was truly Austrian, we all remember him as German.

Austria is Germany . Oh, and I think a bunch of Greeks might take note with you saying "meh, it doesn't matter where he was from. Iran, Iraq, what's the difference?"

But yeah, Gwiffy, compulsory voting all the way. Peoples' thoughts?

Alexander the Great was from Macedonia. Mycenae was a part of Greece under Spartan control, which Alexander later conquered.

The U.S. occupation of Iraq:

This issue is definately a unique one, and although there are only a handful of possible opinions, there is a lot of different reasons for aforementioned opinions. Personally, I think the initial invasion of Iraq was wrong, and I agree with the United Nations on the basis of it being illegal. For anyone who isn't informed, the United States broke international law and they ignored a U.N. mandate when they invaded Iraq. However, as much as I disagree with the initial invasion and war, I think the United States or another peace making [afterwards peace keeping] force is needed or more conflicts on a Iraqi national level, and a international level with occur.

Immigration:

Well, I think the main issue around [legal] immigration is what to make immigrants do; either assimililate, segregate, or integrate their culture into the current one. I go to the Northern states a lot to shop and just for vaction, and I live about forty minutes away from Toronto; thus, I'm surrounded with a lot of different culture. From living in Canada, I personally think integrating different cultures into the current one allows for more cooperation, understanding, and change. Assimilation [which is what I've seen in the states] seems to be a desperate attempt made by the current people in power, to remain in power. If one analyzes it, by stripping someone of their beliefs and culture and forcing another oen onto them will cause one to surrport the current mainstream ideas. Finally, segregation is probally the worse option a person can makle for anything. For obvious reasons, we all know it can cuase a lot more problems.

Another problem about immigration is the fact a lot of immigrants can be exploited. In particular, strippers and other adult entertainers can be and are exploited at a massive level. The only solution seems to be to not allow immigrants whom are in the adult entertainment industry to get a worker's visa. I know it may sound slightly ignorant to just lock the doors to adult entertainers, but it would cost too much to moniter the entire industry; thus, keep them out.

The Militarization of Outer Space:

Perosnally, I agree with the Outer Space Treaty made in the 60's I believe. Space should only be used for peaceful and benificial purposes of all mankind; it should not be used for hegemonic purposes. War in the three current domains has and still causes a lot of problems, I don't think a fourth domain is needed. If a single force coudl gain control in the fourth domain, then that force would gain control of the other three domains; pretty much the world. I think there's just too much at stake if we weaponize space.

Meh, too lazy to comment on everything else right now . . .

I don't know who else agree's with me, but the US are pretty close to terrorists. More innocent Iraq people have died than American, Canadian, or anyone for that matter. The US needs to be furious with the current administration, and they need to get Bush out of office.
