Excuse the cliché, but 'it just works' I'm really chuffed with it actaully - if it had more than 256mb of RAM, it would be a usable machine.

I had nothing against either Intel or AMD until recently. My parents and I use this company called Dell for our computers. Our last 4 computers have been Dell, and against popular belief, we have never had a problem with any of them. I own 2 Intel computers, a P4 desktop 2.8ghz and my pride and joy, my laptop, 2.0ghz core 2 duo, 2gb ram 667mhz, 256mb ati dedicated graphics, xp media centre 2005 (soon to be vista home premium in 3 days). I love it. Then just recently when Dell started putting AMD's in their lower end models, my sister needed a laptop so we decided to trial AMD. BAD DECISION. After only 2 months I want to get her an Intel. I am never going back to AMD. By the way what is the average temperature for a processor. My core 2 duo generally sits between 20 and 30 degrees Celsius. It goes up to about 45 degrees celsius when gaming. Covalent bonding- When two non-metals bond.

I prefer amd's they run at faster clock speeds than previous intel cpu's, eg a amd athlon 1.6ghz runs faster than a p4 1.6ghz

On your arguement, you would like a PowerPC G4 or G5. My 1.5ghz G4 can beat 2.8ghz P4 - and I have benchmarks to prove it! The G5 is even more amazing, they are 64 bit and everything.

tbh people I wouldnt know...
Mine markets itself as a VIA C7!!??
Having just bought my 1GB of RAM upgrade *sits and waits excitedly by the door* I am just beginning to touch on hardware and stuff so ask me this question in a year and I might have determined which (if any) I prefer!
If only we could run PowerPC for Windows.. I wanted this account deleted, but not much unlike MySpace, they wouldn't. Well, here I have a little something.

Finally got your RAM! Trust me, you will be amazed how fast it will seem
There was a shortlived version of Windows NT that ran on PowerPC chips. Also, the 360 is running a version of windows media centre, and it has a PowerPC chip made my IBM. You never know, perhaps there is a PowerPC version of windows floating around

Oh! Wow. Coolness. Yes, I am expecting my computer to be HUGELY faster when I get this upgrade. I did loads of research and have learned a hell of a lot in these last few days about RAM and stuff.
In fact, the machine can take TWO gigs of RAM, but I figured not to break the bank too much and go with 1GB for now. Should be enough for a while. (I hope) I wanted this account deleted, but not much unlike MySpace, they wouldn't. Well, here I have a little something.

You can't upgrade macs as cheaply or as easily with PC's.
Macs don't have as much software, especially games (although they also don't have as much viruses).
Thats why I really just don't care for macs..

1. They are better quality than your average Dell
2. You can if you know what you are doing, or buy a high end Mac.
3. Macs have tonnes of software (i have never had problems find decent software), in fact, there are many unique programs only available for Mac. Also, on the new Intel Macs, you can run Windows apps natively (boot camp) or by using Parallels .
That's why I really care for Macs

I dont know for sure, since I have never used it, but I have heard that it is very slow and graphic intensive, and consider you told me it runs slow (and after reading your spec above) I think you can attest to that.
I just bought a 1GB of RAM upgrade and am soon to install it -- I dont want or need Vista and I would rather have this upgrade LAST me a few years on XP, thank you I wanted this account deleted, but not much unlike MySpace, they wouldn't. Well, here I have a little something.
