Hey I was watching television the other day and it was about the first gay prom in Britain and it inspired me to thinking that maybe there should be some kind of GYC social event? So I've been thinking if anyone would like to lend a hand in attempts to organise one let me know? I think it would be a really good idea and a good chance for people we've talked to on this webiste to meet! We don't have to advertise it as some gay thing for people who aren't out but if you're interested in lending a hand let me know I was thinking it could be held somewhere in the midlands of England because the word midlands is pretty much a giveaway (central) but if anyone can think of a specific building that would be cheap enough let me know yeah?! I'm also going to write a letter to the government if I get enough response on here to see if we can get some funding to do this. Please let me know first if you think this is a good idea and whether it's worth going through with it, hope to hear from you all soon - Matt xx

Sounds lika a great idea!! but i reackon ud be better off writing to the local council for funding as westminster will not give a flying FCUK! How are we gunna regulate the tousands of ppl in the UK who use this site and want to come... numbers wise wed need a massive hall lmao. Isuppose wed also have to send messgaes round all the ppl who registered interes on THIS forum to save time eh?

sounds like an awesome idea altho might make more sense if it was in london (would make travel easier) and it would have to be well regulated (anti-pedo) but yeah i'd gladly lend a hand organising if you get enough interest Destroying the World; One mind at a Time

I'd also be interested! There is an organisatino out there for youth groups and youth projects called Youth Bank: it's all very regional, so I'm not sure which places have them, but I know we have one in Peterborough, there are a whole bunch in Essex and one in Brighton.... but, yeah! See if you can find one local to the place you're wanting to hire out, as well as the one in the place you live, and put in a grant application. The Peterborough one was giving away £5000 at a time to projects, and was willing to give away more after a presentation. Maybe that would be a good reason to set it in Peterborough? There are numerous hotels and church halls that could be hired to hoast: Westgate Church Hall is in the centre of town and so easily accessable, and only a short walk away from the trainstation.
