Alright a few options for that...
When someone says that's gay, you tell them to say 'that's republican' .
When someone says that's gay, they probably mean that's stupid, but they want it to sound more insulting... So they say that's gay.
My friends say it all the time, unfortunately i have the least bit of courage to tell them to shut up or to stop, instead i just try and make it out as 'that's stupid' >_>

Actually, I say stuff is gay sometimes.
I don't like it when I hear someone call someone else a fag. It's like punch in the stomach.

In general it doesn't bother me, though it sounds worse when it's preceeded by a prolounged so, eg: That's sooooooooo gay!
People use it all the time, so I blame society for giving the word gay a pejorative connotation... But usually I flinch if one of my good friends uses it badly, because they know they shouldn't just out of consideration or respect for me.

My friends don't really do it that much, but I do. I'm horrible, I know.

I know it's private. I wanted it to be public, but it won't let me. So, just friend request me saying GYC or something and I'll accept.

Stuff is just gay when I'm pissed off (ex. I got an F on this math test. This is gay!) I don't typically use it when I'm being humourous and neither do many people I know.

Most of my friends are straight and don't realize I'm gay. I try to stay in the closet as long as possible so I never make a hint that gay jokes bother me at all, and they really don't.

eh
im not openly bi
but i have a female friend who is.
she copped alot of shit but shes strong.
anyways she gets really annoyed when anyone uses gay as an insult and it annoys me even more
half the time the insult wont even refer to homosexual people
like 'those shoes look gay'
shoes cant be homosexual
how the hell could you get annoyed by that.
yeeeeh.

Most of my friends are straight, I only have like 5 gay guy friends at school. But no one seems to take it offensivley there, I often use it just because its part of our vocab. I dont feel bad at all when they use it as a vocab word...i would feel more if they used it to call ME gay, in the man liking man way. Im straight, but i have always been curious and trying to figure it out, and i wouldnt want to have to deal with being gay this early in life. So it would hurt me more if they called ME gay in the men liking men way.

before i was out, hearing people say stuff like 'that's gay' would make me feel uncomfortable cuz obviously i was afraid of rejection but since being out i've found the use doesn't actually bother me
altho it's a phrase which should be dropped cuz of it's homophobic meaning, it now seems to me that it's one of those terms that has changed to become seperate from the discriminative use, just as originally the word gay was a positive word to mean happy and then became negative to society to describe sexuality.
now that i'm out, i actually find that the awkwardness comes from when someone says it and then gets embarassed that they said it, afraid that they have offended me. altho i would rather they didn't use terms like that, i'd rather they feel comfortable around me as that is the best way for me to feel comfortable with my sexuality, it's only the support of the people i love and love me that gives me the confidence to be me.
