And of course, some people mature earlier, and some mature later. Most teenagers and preteens are already in relationships with one another well before this age, and most are in touch wit their emotions, so why should there be a problem if they like someone a bit older?

The law is ultimately there to stop older people taking advantage of younger people, but that already happens, before and after you hit that magical "legal" number.

One day society will progress to using a system where they take into account everyone's different ages for maturing. Not for a while though.

I think a couple of years younger (or older) isn't a problem. But yeah, everyone matures at different ages. And that should be taken into account =]

I agree with what everyone is pretty much saying, it really does depend on the age of maturity! I mean, if you look at ancient tribes and races such as the Native Indians or Aboriginals, the men engaged in sexual activities when the girl/woman was only a young age (around 14), because she was mature! So yea i suppose age isn't a huge issue, but it really depends on many different things. =]

Yeah, I agree with the last few posts. Maturity levels are important. I know 14-year-olds who are a lot more mature than some 17-year-olds I know, even if that's a small age gap. Age-wise, though, I guess I could see myself dating someone in the range of 15-18, me being 16...even if I am, sometimes, attracted to guys in their early twenties.
But when it comes to people in their thirties dating a teenager, I dunno, it's just kinda...meh. If its actual "love", though, then I see no problem. Even if it IS frowned upon by society. I just couldn't see myself in that situation.

well i'm 19 and i'd probably say for a relationship i would go as young as 16-17 and as old as 22-23...so yeah i think 3-4 years age difference is acceptable

I have one friend tho, she's 19 and in a relationship with a 33 year old guy and they've been together since she was like 15..

I agree with the previous posts, we all mature at different rates and for me, I find I am attracted to guys a bit younger then i am and i know some people think thats weird but that is just who I am, i cant change that, we are all different and i dont see how a few years in age difference hurts, so long as no one is forced into anything and both people want to be together, but in the end it comes down to personal preference, some people dont like it simply because they only like other people their age and they are too narrow minded to open up and accept other people for who they are.

I think that like 3 years is okay. It depends on maturity. When you get older it broadens. I wouldnt think a 30 year old was taking advantage of a 20 year old. Though I do have a disgusting hatred for old men dating young women. Them and their viagra. Worst thing in the world. In and out in and out. They are going to set them on fire. In my view alot of young people are innocent and vulnerable.

I dont think like 18 year olds should date 15 year olds not only is it illegal but the majority take advantage of them because young people believe in love and first love they think is the one.
I dont have a problem with people who are over the age of concent dating people over the age of concent. Anything below is disgusting. Though a 16 year old dating a 15 year old is acceptable in my views. Though when 20-19 year olds date 16 year olds its taking advantage in most cases. I'm sure theres true love in that situation of some situations. Mostly the older people just take advantage of them.
