I told my best friend first, though I'd been perfectly comfortable with it for... well, always. I've never been ashamed or hesitant when it comes to my sexuality. My friend's mother and 'step-mother' (no same sex marriage here yet) have been together for like 8 years, so I knew she'd be fine with it.

first person I came out to was my girlfriend! we had been going out 3 months and she really loved me... now we're best friends

severe depression followed for both of us, and I started asking for help by emailing a suicide prevention center

my parents were the next ones to find out I was gay when they read those emails, they panicked over the suicide part, but it showed that they care, and they don't think being gay is wrong anymore, which is comforting

however I'm not really "out" yet, my friend and I are still pretending to be gf and bf, I'm still depressed, and no one else knows... well I guess college will be different

I came out too, well not exactley, to the guy who well may aswell say sparked my intrest in guys, i sitll love him, he doesnt swing that ways so too speak, but was cool with it, I think until the offical thing he didnt belive me, then I told the person on pure randomness, who is now my boyfriend of... well over 16weeks now, through SMS, he asked me out about 3 days later, turns out he liked me , and then.. well after the 2 week holidays (aus).. turns out someone had read his phone, then the whole school knew (400+ people)... yet my folks still dont know and I want to tell my bro soon, Im jsut building up the courage , but yeah.. I told a few close friends during school after I knew about the rumor, better they hear it off me anyhow... but my complete coming out was... unecpected to say the least

First person I told was my best friend, who was a girl. She'd suspected for a while, after seeing my disastrous attempt at a relationship with a girl, so it came as no great shock.

My family still doesn't know and as they are mostly homophobic, I don't intend on telling them soon. I'm really close to my family and I would'nt want anything to break that up.

I've only told one person explicity, and she was the first person to know - my best friend. With my other friends (and new friends), I don't make an effort to tell them. I just hint or wait until it comes up in conversation.

Much less stressful than having to make a grand announcement or something, hehe.

With my mum, I'm planning something along these lines in the next few weeks.

Me: Mum, do you mind if I go out with some friends tonight and be back late?
Mum: Where are you going?
Me: To G-A-Y probably.
Mum: Aah,

I remember my sister knowing like it was only a year ago... which it practically was. Was sort of forced into it as well, she was outside my window and I was inside on the computer checking out...pictures...and then I heard knocking. Scared the willies out of me! She was outside smiling and waving. Adjusted myself and then I went to open my window and she was laughing her head off and she was well cool with it. Phew. I don't remember being so freaked in my life...

I personally came out to a friend first.

I came out to the first person just yesterday, he wasnt even a close friend but a mate that i guess id grown to trust and i knew he wouldnt take it bad since he was friendly with another gay guy in our form,

anyway he was surprised at first since its been a kinda joke that im gay because i dont have any GF (how right they were) but he just said he wouldnt tell anyone til im ready and left it at that, im gonna see him for the first time since that tomorrow which has got me kinda nervous but oh well what can i do

im seeing about telling some more people soonish, his reaction really gave me the support i needed to start telling everyone ^^

The first person I told was my friend. He took it okay, and I told a few more friends after that. I told another friend today and he took it great. I really appreciate my friends for being so supportive.

I first came out to a girl I had met on a school trip which I went on for 2 days with...she was a sixth form and was really nice, and for some reason I felt comfortable telling her. Turned out she was a lesbian who thought I had fancied her on the trip. 0_0 worst gaydar ever. but she helped me come out to my friends after that and all that.

The first person I came out to was my best friend Monica. She kind of dragged it out of me, back in 2004. It was a week before Valentine's and we were talking about our plans. She wanted to set me up with some girl so I had to tell her the truth. her boyfriend was there too. They both took it great, now the whole group I hang out with knows (all girls, minus the aforementioned boyfriend).

The first "straight" guy I came out to after that would prove to be my first long term relationship which ended back in December. I was sure I was going to crap myself. He was Arab & Muslim and I was sure I'd get told off... I was wrong, to say the least.
