I am baffled by the fact that many religious people believe it's some kind of disease. The bible is also extremely contradictive. What frustrates me even more is in the fact that they ignore the fact that it's not a choice. It's who we are.
Although, I do believe God and Gays can go together. After all if it didn't why would we have gay priests? Some are bigging to adopt a wider perspective on life.

This is something which has plagued people for centuries. indeed it does say in the Bible that it is a sin for two men to lie together as a woman and a man does, however we must remember that that was supposedly written more than 2000 years ago. Today many christians view the bible only as a basis of religion and that some parts need to be interpreted for today. another issue, as well as homosexuality, would be abortion. The way I see it is that homosexuals are doing nothing wrong against the Bible and they will not go to hell if they love people and do the right thing, then they should not go to hell, because it's said that god loves everyone and he forgives everyone, so that must include homosexuals.

I have to agree with RickyB106
I don't think God hates us at all. I love him and I will be a practicing Catholic my whole life. Homosexuality is not a sin either. Times are changing and I think people are starting to realize that. When I was being Confirmed, my youth leader told us it was not a sin. The Priests said the same thing. Besides, if you stop being tolerant then you're just making everything worse =]. And as far as the Bible is concerned, many things are different. Read some other things in there and you'll see that homosexuality is one of the lowest things people should worry about =O.

But don't you think that it's horrible that the Pope Benoit XVI consider homosexuality as a sin and disapproved that ?
I just wanna say one thing :
"Hey man wake up now it's the XXI century !"

I see no reason why gays and god can't go together, I mean everything we know about God comes from what man say and who is to say man is right? I say make your own mind up about what you read in the bible becuase the bible has been edited and changed for thousands of years by the Vatican, so in all the Vatican are in control of how we see God.
Jesus was the most easy going person around, he was friends with prostitutes and other outcasts of society, so all the bad things the bible say about gays doesnt come from him.
I think everyone needs to make up their own mind about God, and ignore everything we are told and decide for ourselves if God loves us for who we are or not.

I definitely think God and Gays can go together, here's my logic behind it (although I have never read the Bible in its entirety, nor do I consider myself an avid Christian)
1. God created all life, and He created man and women in his image. Fair Enough.
2. Males have prostates.
3. The Prostate NOT ONLY is in an easily accessible area (compared to the heart, stomach, and other organs) BUT ALSO causes pleasure when stimulated.
Homosexuality is considered a sin, particularly the act of homosexual sex. If this is so, and if God in all his wisdom created men in this way, why didn't he put the prostate in a place that couldn't be easily found by any means? Why did he cause it to create pleasure when stimulated as opposed to pain or death? Or are we honestly to believe that God in all his wisdom is also a master of contractions and traps. Or even worse, are we to believe that the Devil himself has a roll to play in human anatomy?
This cannot be the case, for God is forgiving and is always depicted as merciful and taking pity on humanity, at the heart of everything. On could argue the instances of Sodom and Gomorrah, two cities destroyed in Gods wrath at the sheer scope of sin. I contest however that these cities were not destroyed for the practice of homosexuality, but for the loss of the true meaning of sex. As can be seen in the tale of Sodom and Gomorrah the people were incredibly liberal about with whom they had sex with (possibly similar with today, how people who have never met before, now casually meet up for sex as opposed to the older traditions of courtship, etc.) And perhaps we are overlooking a sense of metaphor to be witnessed here, perhaps God is not the diety Himself but is rather a metaphor for righteous virtue and the things that should be done, that Sodom and Gomorrah are a means to exemplify civil rightfulness and an orderly society as opposed to one driven mad with sex.
Falling back to the main topic though, as my local priest says frequently, "Who you are, what you are, and as you are, you are loved." That was the message that Jesus Christ tried to spread to humanity, AND THEREFORE, it must be ultimately concluded that the sin of homosexuality is simply a means of super masculine dominance and oppression. That in truth, God created man and all life in His image, and, lest Lucifer is the maker of man and all life in his own image, then homosexual has been designed by the Creator as a natural process in the broader scheme of things; that it is part of the bigger plan; that it is not immoral, or sin.
I honestly prefer myself as a Buddhist though, that and a cherry-picker. If something from another religion suits me I take it along.

Post edited by: Pathos315, at: 2008/01/08 15:07

Well, I'm a strong Christian, and I do somewhat believe that God made me how he wanted me. I really truly hope that God doesn't penalize people for being gay, because it's not a choice, it's just how we are. And some nights, I ask him if he could accept gay people into heaven[if he hasn't already done so] So I believe that you actually can be gay, and believe in God. I also think that if your faith is strong, then you can be accepted, no matter what sins you've committed. XOXO.

i honestly never will be able to comprehend the whole anti-gay thing. if God hated us so much then why are we here? it's not like its a choice to be gay and i dont think many straight people understand that. we didnt just wake up one day and decide were just gonna like boys or just like girls. it just happens.

I've spent quite a bit of timeon this as I am very committed to my faith. It would take a long time to explain everything but in a nutshell many feel that ppl who translated the bible from the original scrolls included manyof their own beliefs in a less than accurate translation. It is believed that in these instances the original wirters were referring to male prostitutes that were known to gather at the temple. At the time there was no words to describe committed homosexual relations. Therefore all homosexual relations were lumped into one category.
Also, if we look at the book of Leviticus and most in particular, the Holiness Code we nned to look at the entire writing. People were not to wear clothing of mixed materials (such as cotton and polyester). A woman was to go into the wild during her monthly menstration period. A man who laid with a woman during her menstration period was an abomination.
For somereason themodern church has choosen to throw out what the want and then quote what is fitting to them and their beliefs. I would highly recommend a goole search for "homosexuality and the bible" to get a better understanding of this issue. You will find arguments for and against. Just as faith is personal, so should be your decision on this issue.
Sorry I didn't have time to include direct quotes and such, but you will find them in your research.
