It is so hard to defend something, with all the loonies in the world. If only we were allowed to turn some people away, but no we have to acceot everyone. D@#n. I was watching the news the other day and some woman killed her mother, because, get this "Jesus told her to do it". Yeah. It wasn't even a simple stabbing or gunshot, no she sat on her mother's chest until her lungs collapsed, and I bet it didn't take long, the chick was huge. The things people do in the name of religion, it's almost shameful. All I can do is hope she was part of one of those orthodox sects, and that's why she's so f*ing cracked up.
That's it for me,
Greg.

Re:Whats your religion ? 3 Years, 5 Months ago
this is possibly the funniest chain i've recieved, and pretyt much sums the general shittiness of the bible (apologies to those who believe 2000 yr old propaganda.....)

LEVITICUS
Laura Schlessinger is a US radio personality, who dispenses advice to people who call in to her Radio show.

On her radio show recently, she said that, as an observant Orthodox Jew, homosexuality is an abomination, according to Leviticus 18:22 and cannot be condoned under any circumstance.

The following response is an open letter to Dr. Laura, penned by a US resident, which was posted on the internet:

Dear Dr. Laura:

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination.
End of debate.

I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God's Laws and how to follow them.

1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own a Canadian?

2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15: 19-24. The problem is how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offence.

4. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odour for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbours. They claim the odour is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

5. I have a neighbour who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it?

6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an
abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this? Are there 'degrees' of abomination?

7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wriggle-room here?

8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev 19:27. How should they die?

9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev.19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? (Lev.24:10-16). Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev.20:14)

I know you have studied these things extensively and thus enjoy considerable expertise in such matters, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

Your adoring fan,

Natalie Vassilaka

I'm actually kinda lucky. I'm Roman Catholic...but a lot of what the higher ups in the Church say finds a way of falling on deaf ears at my church...I mean my lil slice of heaven is pretty liberal....for a church that is....i mean what church do you know of has a lesbian couple that hand out the bulletins after mass?

I'm a Catholic...I agree with most of the Church's teachings with no problem too-they're basically lessons on how to be a liberal. The whole gay thing can pose a problem, but I choose to ignore it most of the time, hehe.

I have a religion that not many people have heard of. I'm a Unitarian Universalist. Because it is not that common most people need it to be explained to them. Unfortunately, it is really hard to describe. Basicaly it is a very liberal church that supports all people no matter how different they are. The vast majority is athiest and a good chunk of the congregation is gay. We basically belive that all people should be treated fairly and equally. We believe that if that is not the case in our society, then we need to do something about it. There is lots of stuff deeper than that but it's really hard to articulate well. Anyway, if anyone is looking for a good religion, check out a UU church. You will be very welcome.
I grew up in this church my whole life but I'm sure if I hadn't I would've ended up here. The values match my own and it has such an open, caring and welcoming atmosphere that anyone (maybe excluding homophobic, conservative, and racist people) would feel like they fit in.
All in all, I think this is a wonderful religion. Oh ya! It is not strict at all. You just show up and listen to a like minded minister.

This is an interesting view seeing as how the mainstream image of a Catholic is...conservative, yes I was going to say conservative.

This opens my mind to Catholicism All this time I thought I had it easy with Protestance. If not for the nuns, I'd be all over it.
I apologize in advance for those I've offended and take a bow for those who appreciate this comment (even though the people in that group are a rarity).

Yeah...I'm definitely stopping now

Hmm...one must wonder why if it's so awesome why it's not adveritsed.
It's just me (I'm an @$$) but this seems like another self-proclaimed religion. Now don't hate me but I think that in some ways this can be compared to scientology, but in more ways it could be more a meeting of outcasts more than a religious reform.
Forgive me for what I say, I spend most of my time partying. I hold my alcohol well, but I use any excuse to release any and all inhibitions.
Maybe it is, or can prove to be a real religion.
Till L8R,
Astrogemini

Re:Whats your religion ? 3 Years, 5 Months ago
i dont see the purpose of it(most religions) anymore. and i also think it has strayed so far from its original purpose, to unite people, and begen to do nothing more then preach hate and great rifts between entire groups of people. but it has been this way for a long time.. during the american civil was, people used to bible to defend slavery, enough said.

anyways, this forum isnt about how bad the christianity is...

i choose to be spiritual in my own way. i take bits and peices form many different religions and use them to create my own beleive system, my own way to remain balanced and centered.
for example, i like the idea of the aboriginal medicine wheel concept of balanceing physical health, mental heath, spirituality and learning in your daily life.

I wasn't raised with any religion, my parents were, but they broke off, all my aunts, uncles, gramps and grams are heavy religious, I personally think all religion having to do with god, christ, jesus, and stuff is just full of gits, (no offense to any mates here), I'm an atheist, though I've been looking into some buddhist stuff, and it's pretty interesting
