Re:Does Your School... 3 Months ago
Well just reading ur posts makes the water works start up!
I have a bi and a gay freind at my school and then theres me too
luckly our teachers are really relaxed about it, they are really cool!!
for example: my freind was humping my other freind in the corrodor ( this is kinda the nrm, it was'nt sex it was just play) so as he humped away, the guy underneath yelled rape !! and my Drama teacher walk past. She said ew, as she walk past. I yelled out theres noth'n rong with gay sex. And she stop and said " im not bothered about the gay sex part, but its the rape im worried about"

But alot of the students there are very much still homopho which sucks if you ask me!!

My school is for children with issues that are mainly psychological. They teach tolerence about all kinds of people. They make sure nobody gets bullied and if anyone tried to attack someone the according to the rules they would be restrained by the staff or even police.

My schools health teachers dont teach anything about homosexuality, I was dissapointed on the "Health Day"(Warning us of Drugs, unprotected sex.ect) we had where NO mention of homosexuality at all when unprotected sex was discussed. I felt quite shut out as the nurse kept saying "Now when she..." "If she...".

Our PSRE teachers (And a friend of mine on here who goes to the same school as I shall agree), are against homophobia to a huge degree and are pro-gay (they aren't gay themselves, all 3 are married xD)

We are educated on gay sex and gay rights in those lessons, the teachers take into consideration that some students (like myself) may be gay so they treat it in a gentle manner and will go absolutely mental at anyone who makes any gay jokes or such.

The PSRE teacher I have currently kept a student in for 2 weeks for saying "Dont be such a f*****g f****t that is so gay" to his friend, commenting about something.

Most of the guys in my school don't understand homosexuality, that's mostly because it's not taught in any lesson at any point during school. A few of my teachers have mentioned that your sexuality is your business but thats about the extent of it. (Although alot of the teachers are quite obviously gay, including the campest science teacher you'll ever see)
The most common insult floating around my school for the last 2 or 3 years has been "gay", used to exclaim anger at a situation or sometimes just to get someones attention. So when rumours started going around that i might have actually been gay, you can imagine the reaction. The funny thing is, shortly after I came out. people practically feared me because of it. Averting their gaze as if I was the devil. (admittedly I am slightly demonic)
This is probably because they don't understand what it means to be gay, and only my friends tend to find out cause they're the only ones who ask

well if you live in the UK you can go to the school office and like hand in a letter or something and they can't tell anyone who delivered it and if they did you could always sue them

Re:Does Your School... 2 Months ago
I've seen it mentioned a few times in this thread. The reason is (obviously this only applies to uk schools) section 28 which, for any of you that don't know, prohibits the promotion of homosexuality as an alternate lifestyle.

This was finally repealed, first in Scotland in 2001 and then in the rest of the uk in 2003.

The problem is, scools have never had to deal with it in the past and they don't really know how to deal with it now that they have the power to do something about it.

Thankfully, however, Stonewall has been running a campaign for a while now called Education For All, and one of the things that this ensures is that teachers are given the training to deal with homophobia at school, and stop the stigma assosciated with homosexuality before pupils get out into the big wide world, where they can really cause some damage.

It's just up to the schools to take that first step.

We've only looked at in once at the end of Year 9, and it's surprising how many people are "It's alright, but...". Plus there's one outright homophobe.
But this year, some of us are doing RS GCSE - and homosexuality is part of the curriculum.

Nope, my school has never said a word regarding either issue, of course they have a policy to deal with bullying, but telling staff means you pretty much have to out yourself to them - I wouldn't do that, even to the teachers I like.
