Bill Hicks is the shit, btw.
As a good liberal, people who get sanctimonious about smoking bug me. I just can't understand people who devote such a huge portion of their energy to other people's business. You're no better than the pricks who think what we do in our bedrooms is their business. Naturally, people shouldn't be forced to breathe in other people's smoke, and if it's bothering you, you then tell the smoker, and nine times out of ten, they'll very politely move away. That, then, is your cue to walk away as well; not to follow them with a lecture I promise you their mother has already given them, and which they dismissed coming from her. When you give it, you sound like a pompous prick.
Civilized people either smoke, or don't make a big deal about it when others do. Politically correct barbarians and the generally obnoxious, give the health speech, or write things like this.

people who smoke need to grow some balls and buy some nicorette patches, PERIOD!
I smoke every so often because it's a civilized pasttime that people have engaged in for centuries as a social thing, or just to relax. I'm not addicted, I have never felt a 'craving' in my life, and I believe I possess a pair of balls, thank you very much. I hadn't had a cigarette in a few weeks, but I think I'll go downstairs right now and light one up in the comfort of my own home while reading a good book. If anyone really wants to stop me, there are plenty of political parties out there for busybodies convinced they know best how others shoud run their lives. The Republicans, for example.

Post edited by: Beatle, at: 2007/12/18 06:39
