Hi all,
This is my first post and my first day out. It starts like this:
I organised a few time to meet my best friend (yes, who is a girl, I know... I'm a 19 year old guy and she's 21). Due to our busy work schedules we eventually decided on this morning. It would have been better earlier, because I kissed a female colleague at a party, which only confirmed that I way gay (that was the first time I've said "I'm gay" online . I felt absolutely nothing, no feelings or attraction, towards my colleague after our kiss.
Anyway, I couldn't get the courage to tell her at our meeting point (a coffee shop), it took a change of venue, a short shopping experience and we eventually arrived at a Church coffee shop (I know, the irony is killing me). I said "I'm gay (I trembled on the word "gay" . She thought I was joking at first, because I joke with her all the time. She then basically said she was honoured that I told her first, then she enquired as to why she has so many gay friends and then commented on the irony of me coming out in a Church coffee shop, next door to the actual Church...
Anyway she had to leave and she messaged me to say she would phone later, because she feels we should talk more. So now I'll wait for her call. I'm lucky to have such a wonderful friend. Now I've just got to tell my other friends and my family... wish me luck.
Keep well guys and thanks for all the stories, they definately helped me through the initial stages of my own personal coming out.

kinda simple.
i got really close to my two bestfriends in the summer.
i told one in a letter. and she was HAPPY for me.
she wanted me to be gay for some reason hahah.
but yeah. she hugged me and blaaahhhh.
and then later on my mom confronted me because she noticed how i've been down and depressed and asked me if i was gay. and she knew all along.
she was fine with it. LONGGGG story short. i think i am lucky because every person i've told was COMPLETELY fine with it.
but yeaaahhh talk to meeee

Ah Coming Out Stories
these are usually a barrel of laughs
i first told one of my closest friends that i was gay and she was Very supportive
i then told another close friend, and another, and another till all my close friends knew
then i was out with my friends and a group of people one night and a rather drunk guy came up to me and said
"someone told me you admitted you were gay"
to which i replied "and proud"
and that was the day i started hating all my friends
so now i have new friends
but their official story was
"i lost my phone at a party, and you texted me saying something about you being gay, so its your fault really"
seriously?
so i spread rumors about them and told everyone their biggest secrets
Fun times indeed =)

Post edited by: dangreen, at: 2008/01/04 10:02

It was a week before school started. I hadn't kept in touch with any of my friends because I was working and had gone on a month-long vacation to visit my cousins. Before that, though, I was dating my first guy. We broke up after he cheated on me and gave me scabies, I still have scars from them (eww, I know).
So anyways, I'm hanging out with the neighbourhood kids and we get to talking about what we did this summer and I thought that now's a good a time as any and said, "I got a boyfriend, he gave me scabies, we broke up. I'm bi, by the way and I have scars to prove it." All the girls were like "Oh, I knew that, you dress nice and watch Laguna Beach, of course you're bi." and all the guys were like, "Wtf, you like, suck cocks and stuff?" of course they were joking. I lightened the mood with a "double your choices, double your fun" and then I showed them scars, just to prove I wasn't kidding.
Then we ordered pizza, the guys and I played some hockey and the girls and I talked about who was hotter, Stephen or Talan.
All in all it was pretty good. The whole school knew by September and it's been great save for the few rednecks, but others stood up for me and so me and them pretty much ignore each other.

My story...ok, so the head of my school's GSA and I are pretty close...so one day he calls me and we talked for a little bit and he asked me, and I'm like "what the hell, there's no point in lying to him about it, his sister is a lesbian, so he'll be cool with it" So I told him and he was completely cool about it.
Then about a week later I was talking to his sister, let's call her B, on Im and in the middle of the conversation, I was like "by the way, I'm bi" and she thought it was pretty awesome. Since then we've become a lot closerand she's the #1 person I go to for support. She encouraged me to talk to one of my lesbian teachers-pretty much all the gay kids at my school have come out in her office, she's amazing. So I asked her if I could meet with her and she asked me what about and so I blurted it out. She said congratulations and gave me chocolate and helped me to come out to 2 of my friends.
So one of my close friends is pretty openly ok wiht gay people, and when I told her she was all "Im really supportive" and stuff, but, yeah, she's cool with it and nothing has changed between us. Another one of my best friends-I was more worried about her, because we've had to share a bed on school trips and stuff. I came out to her and she was really awkward about it for a little while, but now she's pretty cool with it and it's awesome.
So yeah, I know this is probably not so interesting, but it gets better. So, the father of the first 2 people I came out to works at my school, and is in the GSA. He offers a course on homosexuality and religion as an elective, and I really wanted to take it, but I was afraid of what people would say, as everyone already thinks I'm gay. I mentioned it to B and she said he might teach me the same stuff but privately and I could still get credit for it and stuff, so she was like "Can I tell him?" so I said sure. Then, after he emailed me, she was like, "Oh, by the way, he kind of already guessed" I asked her when and she said "back in the 1st trimester" and I was like he knew for 4 months! So, finally, I was sooo fed up with lying to my best guy friend, who's pretty homophobic, and I was like "Screw it, I'll tell him anyway" So I did; at first he was pretty cool with it but he makes a lot of homophobic comments that really hurt, like: "You'll make out with a guy, and then you'll be fixed" and in one of my Jewish classes we were discussing the fact that you can't murder worship idols, or have sex with ppl you're not allowed to have sex with even if it will save your life, and he said "Oooh, Sara" I was like-i don't need to be reminded that it's against, torah, I'm perfectly aware of it. Then a little while later I came out to a bi guy at my school who was disappointed that i hadn't come out to him in person, he already knew, but was like "welcome to the club" before spending 20 minutes about this cute guy he has a crush on
Sorry, I know this was kind of long. hope the smiley's make up for it.

Post edited by: RSco, at: 2008/03/28 16:02

My story isn't too interesting, I knew I was gay for a long time, and made up my mind that it was time to come out so I told my best friend, and she was all fine with it, even though she is a little disappointed that she can't go out with me, but anyways, I was talking to this guy I like on myspace(he is gay) and between talking to him, I went outside and told my mom. When I got back inside, I saw that he said I should hold out on coming out as long as I can... She was fine with it, or so she says, but now all she does is occasionally beg me to give her a grandchild...
Interestingly enough my mom and I were just talking about it, and she has finally accepted it. She said,"Now I don't have one handyman, I get two."
The better story to tell, I was downtown with some friends, and we were in this food place, and we were talking about how a guy thought my name was Brian and I was going out with Brenda, and I was all, "No, my name is Chris, and I'm gay", and the lady behind me heard it and thought it was the big coming out, and she congratulated me...
