Favorite Opera Pieces? 1 Year, 7 Months ago
Hey all

I typically don't like much opera, but some chorus' you have to love.

My list (in no particular order):

Humming Chorus from Madame Butterfly
Vedi! le fosche notturne spoglie from Il travotore (aka anvil chorus)
Habanera from Carmen
O Fortuna from Carmina Burana

What about you guys?

My opera collection is unfortunately fairly small. Off the top of my head, but my standout favourite track has got to be "Ché Gelida Manina" from La Bohéme by Verdi. Lovely piece of music and sounds orgasmic when sung by Andrea Bocelli.

Non piu andrai from Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro ossia la folle giornata.
O mio babbino caro from Puccini's Gianni Schicchi.

Basically anything on Double Clef FM in GTAIII is good.

Also, the Overture to Rossini's La gazza ladra (The Thieving Magpie), although technically... there's no singing.

I have to agree on all of those, Porgy and Bess is also a great american Opera along with the European Mariage of Figaro. La Boheme is wonderfully tragic and CArmen is good too.

My faves:

"Habanera" from Carmen
"Musetta's Waltz" from La Boheme
"The Laughing Song" from Mein Herr Marquis(I think)
"O Fortuna" from Carmina Burana
"Have Maria" from...I don't know where actually...

I like more, but I can't remember their names

Hmm, I wish I knew more Opera, but alas I dont.

Anyway, "La Donna E Mobile."
"Toreadors Song"
"Nessun Dorma" from turandot by Puccini

But if we go along a theory that "Musicals are really just operas in English", then the list grows...

"The Phantom of the Opera"
"Evita"
and omg... "CATS"

Theres a lot i missed no doubt, but Meh.

I'm not much of an Opera person... more Broadway but...

O Furtuna is the most epic thing in the world.

That song that Paul Potts (I think that's his name) did on Britain's Got Talent is really good. His voice makes me melt.

I reconmmend "Mezame" by Yuki Kajiura. Just search it up on youtube, and I'll think you'll like it.
