I was SO happy when I heard this, but not suprised, to be honest.

Lol, apparently he was in love with the dark wizard Grindelwald (sp?) much in the same way that Bellatrix was in love with Voldemort, but Dumbledore was different because he overcame it when he killed Grindelwald in the fight for the elder wand (hahaha, yessss I know ). All in all, it was Dumbledore's love that was his downfall. Grindelwald betrayed him, and broke his heart.

Even though Dumbledore being gay wasn't much of a suprise, I would have thought Percy, if anyone!

P.S.- much agreed about the whole "it wouldn't be a kids book if he obvious" subject.

Percy and Malfoy were top of my possibly homosexual list.

Dumbledore I think is a marvelous role model for children the world over, homosexual or otherwise. He is a reasonable gentleman with all the right values who makes mistakes just like everyone else and redeems himself repeatedly. As for Ms. McGongall the "fag hag", that s a most amusing image.

I onli found out the other day as well it was on the news or radio or summin like tht. Y hasnt summin like this surfaced b4. I think it would have made it more acceptable 2 peeps n made more of an impact!!! If tht makes sense

Apparently, JK Rowling said that she liked the way Michael Gambon played Dumbledore in the third fim in relation to his orientation. lol

I was never a HP fan... read the books, but that's it. I AM happy that this whole thing came out. This is a great start to promoting homosexuality, especially with a book that's as widely read as it is. I do agree with the ppl that say that there should have been more references to this in the books (It almost seems like JKR made it up after the book came out. Kudos to her for putting it out there, tho.)

i totally agree! ian McKellen would make a great dumbledore!

I would go for McKellen, myself. Not because of Gandalf, but jsut because these other two who've palyed him make him appear close to death all the time. He's meant to be a springy and energetic eccenteric, not a nurcing home bound old man.
