Time together don't mean as much as you make it sound babe. It is the feelins that matter. I agree that a lot of peeps ae just out for sex, but that ain't just gays and you know it.
Sex is fun, so don't get me wrong here.. Its just not that important ta me. I havent been goin with Kim quite a year yet.. But I love her, and I ain't goin nowhere.
I know two gay men that are just as devoted to eachother, they have been together about as long as we have... I guess my point is.. you can' put a measurin stink on love like you seem ta be tryin ta do.

That's completely it. Being raised in a family of VERY conservative, Southern Baptist Christians, I am a first hand witness of the ignorance of homosexuality among conservative Christians. With that aside, people in general (whatever country) should not have the ability to decide whether or not one has the right to have a certain legal status, meaning legal rights for marriage. That should NEVER be on ANY ballot. Those rights should come with being a citizen.
In regards to the United States, the separation of church and state has not exactly taken root. My best friend likes to say we live in a quasi-theocracy. I couldn't have said it better myself. Members of Congress have NO BUSINESS imposing their respective religion (aka Christianity) onto this country. The wealthy, out-of-touch dunce who sits in the White House is the epitome of our quasi-theocracy. Just look at his response to the "liberal" state of Massachusetts, with a Republican governor mind you, and their passing of a gay marriage bill:
The rush of same-sex marriages drew national attention from the news media, interest groups, and policymakers. President George W. Bush reaffirmed his opposition to gay marriage on the day it became legal, and called again for passage of a federal constitutional amendment banning it. "The sacred institution of marriage should not be redefined by a few activist judges," he said, in a prepared statement. "All Americans have a right to be heard in this debate. I called on the Congress to pass, and to send to the states for ratification, an amendment to our Constitution defining and protecting marriage as a union of a man and a woman as husband and wife. The need for that amendment is still urgent, and I repeat that call today."
The United States should be careful how it handles its social matters. There will come a time when the citizens will not take any more bullshit from an already out-of-touch government. I’m leaving as soon as I can. I will not be treated as a second class citizen. There are places in this world that respect human rights, and thankfully, I am not bound to this horrendous country. Goodbye, USA.

I'm going to quote someone on a show that I believe. "If you're lucky enough to find someone you love who loves you back. It's a gift and makes all drama and tears worthwhile." If you find someone that you love with you're heart and soul, you should be allowed to be with them if you want. People make it sounfd like that if gays get married then we'll blow up the world or something.

Just because we're gay doesn't mean we're any less human that anybody else. Therefore we deserve the same "rights." I've never really thought of gay marriage to be honest, but it bugs me that it's not called marriage.

It all comes down to the Conservative Republicans and gov't does not want any mass revolts from all of the high church leaders. Marriage should be available to everyone NOT a civil union because couples still would not have the benefits and advantages of marraige as all of these married couples.

The lgbt community would complain because it's not exactly the same.
The lgbt community would then complain that the 'bride' in the wedding doesn't have tits, and will proceed to blame this on the homophobic 'system'.

Marriage to me is a practice of religion.
Everyone does it differently.
And because of that, I don't see why the government actually interferes with this practice if there is a "separation of church and state."
And if we have "freedom" of "religion" then not marrying someone just because they are the same sex as you would be a "violation" to our "freedom."

So two atheists should not be allowed to be married?
Marriage is not a religious institution, but a social one. Otherwise you might as well tell the government to get rid of the economical advantages tied to marriage... and something tells me no conservative is going to go for that one.

They can, but in some other form.
Atheists would not go to a Christian church, would they?
